Reviews around price (4.69 of 5)

  • She loves it and says it's such a wonderful lens for such a great price!
  • The price is great, the lens is light, the lens is fast, and it has image stabilization.
  • Build quality is what you'd expect at this price - plasticky plasticness - but that's the price we pay for not paying a very high price
  • Great little lens will worth it better than the L lens for cheaper price L
  • Price wasn't too shabby either!

Reviews around quality (4.66 of 5)

  • It's rare to find quality this good in a zoom lens this cheap.
  • Very good quality lens for wide angles on Canon 70d camera.
  • For the price the quality and wide zoom couldn't be better
  • Not as well corrected as I'd like, but it's a cheap way to get into wide angle shooting for your crop sensor bodies.
  • Good quality and price was so much better than other sellers.

Reviews around mm (4.63 of 5)

  • Like the old Canon EF-S 10-22mm and practically all ultra-wide angle lenses, images are a little bit soft in the corners at 10mm
  • This lens pretty much finishes my stable of "standard" STM lenses - I've got it, the 18-55mm, the 18-135mm, the 55-250mm and a 50mm (1.8) prime as well
  • This lens, the 10-18 mm IS blows the 10-22 out of the water, at least the copy i have has very good sharpness corner-to-corner and in the center it's comparable to L-series lenses, even wide open
  • I would LOVE to have this lens at f/4, or f/3.5 (like the 18-55mm kit lenses), or even better, f/3.2 or f/2.8 for wide open.
  • However, 10mm is amazing as I used to shoot with a kit lens, 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM , and it was the best thing I ever saw when I saw 10mm

Reviews around photo (4.58 of 5)

  • For $299.00, you will be pleasantly surprised at the awesome photos you can get with this lens.
  • I was amazed by this lens and its ability to take tack sharp photos
  • This lens has a very nice wide view, but it is giving me extra work to produce clean, flare-free photos at night, which is unfortunately the majority of what I use wide angles for.
  • I love the photos the lens takes when I do not use my flash, they are incredible for my real estate
  • I use it with a Canon Digital Rebel XTi and a Canon EOS 70D (both APS-C sensors), and the photos you can get with this lens is almost freakish

Reviews around angle (4.48 of 5)

  • Not as well corrected as I'd like, but it's a cheap way to get into wide angle shooting for your crop sensor bodies.
  • I have a more expensive Tamron wide angle lens that I have been using, but it always had quite a lot of distortion
  • I have been looking for a nice affordable wide angle lens for a long while this was it, i love it and highly recommend it.
  • Love the wide angle of this lens as well as the clarity
  • Nice wide angle lens, arrive on time in protective packaging

Reviews around value (4.40 of 5)

  • If you need to shoot a lot of wide angle (to catch the action) candid/family type indoor shots, buying this lens is a no brainer and a great value
  • Solid lens, and undeniably a great value, but imperfect
  • Like I said, great value for such a light and wide lens.

Reviews around shot (4.38 of 5)

  • I used a tripod for my darker shots so this was not an issue for me
  • I would recommend this to any photographer who loves those wide shots, won't break the bank is reliable.
  • Not the greatest at shooting stills in low light, but I like using it with a flash to get wide, streaky shots at music shows.
  • My favorite wide shots all begin with an interesting subject in the foreground that then fades into the background.
  • I always get amazing photos from my L series lenses and also get amazing shots from my non L series

Reviews around image (4.13 of 5)

  • I was really surprised on how great the images were and usability of this lens compared to my 17-35.
  • It takes a little practice to know when and how to use this wide angle lens but with just a little practice you can get great results with very sharp images all the way out to the corners
  • What I can say is, this lens produced fine images in the very first use I had - candids and large group shots at a banquet
  • The whole "plasticy"ness in general that so many people complain about with cheaper lenses like these doesn't phase me, i only care about the glass itself, and the image quality it can achieve... which in this case is very respectable, no complaints at all
  • Looooove this little lens, very reasonably priced, works great, very clear images!!

Reviews around focus (3.72 of 5)

  • You will get a wide enough angle (just about), with blurry edges but good enough center focus
  • The STM drive rendered pulls and Movie Servo silky smooth on my SL1.The "by wire," i.e., powered manual focus is smooth but lacks the control of a mechanical ring
  • Its lightweight, got quiet auto focus and image stabilization
  • Fast focus, pretty sharp, color rendition is pretty great
  • The lens is sharp, accurate, focus is quick, and silent.

Reviews around lense (3.48 of 5)

  • In most cases it is as good as more expensive lenses like the 10-22mm, and in some cases it has better sharpness.
  • Hands down one of Canon's Best crop body lenses for landscapes
  • This lens quickly became one of my favorite and most used lenses.
  • As to the images, because certainly that is most important to me; I've used VERY expensive lenses of this focus length and the Canon EF-S 10-18 STM is VERY comparable at a far lower price....
  • This is good news for us crop users, as both these lenses are good,

Reviews around aperture (2.71 of 5)

  • I also dont like the small aperture since i cant really use it for video at night
  • The USM lens has 4mm of reach, 1-stop faster aperture at 10mm, better build, distance scale, sturdy metal mount and faster AF
  • I sometimes miss wider aperture, but then again - remember the price
  • I like to shoot long exposures, so the slower aperture is fine for me
  • It isn't the fastest aperture but in nice light this thing does the job

Reviews around barrel distortion (1.95 of 5)

  • It performs just as good as, if not better than, the Canon EF 10-22mm for less than half the price
  • While it's not quite as sharp as I would like, it has decent quality, focuses quickly, and a great price.
  • Great little lens will worth it better than the L lens for cheaper price L
  • Both have the same drawbacks (CA, barrel distortion, ghosting), so neither has an edge there.
  • There is modest barrel distortion at the wide end that is easily corrected in DPP.

Reviews around speed (1.85 of 5)

  • While I may need to use a flash in limited light situations, the IS allows you to balance slower shutter speeds with higher aperture for great pictures in the majority of situations.
  • I just wish I could afford the better lens(s)
  • IS counteracts the effects of hand shake when shooting at a speed slower than needed.
  • 4stops of stabilization to take faster shutter speed-Seven blade aperture-STM Stepping motor for fast quiet focusing!-Full time manual focusCons-Relatively small
  • If you need to use it handheld in low light, the IS should more than make up for the slower shutter speed

Reviews around shutter (1.85 of 5)

  • If you need to use it handheld in low light, the IS should more than make up for the slower shutter speed
  • I just wish I could afford the better lens(s)
  • This is not the case, only a faster shutter speed can do that.
  • Having only f/4.5 wide open at 10mm indoors (with indoor lighting) means slower shutter speeds or bumping up the ISO to 400, 800, or 1600, which is less than ideal, or even worse, having to use flash.
  • I love h the wide angle though.
