  • This camera is a great travel camera with top quality image and all the controls you need
  • The images I took with the 22mm were pretty good, but the overall issues I had with this camera forced me to return it
  • The camera does feature a good sensor and image processor, but the lenses will hinder the results provided by the great tech that's included
  • However, it packs much better technology with really good image quality in a small compact camera body
  • A Camera has to feel good in your hand, and give you great images it fails to do either one of these two it is a failure.

Reviews around light (5.00 of 5)

  • ILC Small, Light easy to use, touch screen, Hybrid af 2. 18MP, shoots 1080P Video.
  • Did a few with available light and was amazed at how good the image stabilization worked at super slow shutter speeds
  • it’s great because it’s super light, gives you more leeway to attach L lenses and an adapter
  • Sometimes the screen is hard to read in bright light - maybe they could come up with a simple solution, like a shade.
  • 2000.Then used 100mm 2.8 indoors with bright room light, the focus was struggling very hard, was impossible to take a shot, very disappointed

  • I've also had a G9, and an S3 IS (2005-ish, my first camera, and it has an EVF and articulating screen).- - - - -NOTES⁽ⁿ¹⁾

Reviews around ergonomics (4.03 of 5)

  • + Still my favorite ergonomics (Canon).+ Can open battery/card compartment without removing tripod.+ The Android app for remote shooting and wireless transfer is very responsive.+ Not too much lenses to choose
  • I'll recommend it if you like Canon ergonomics (which I do)
  • Rival Sony’s or Panasonic’s offer much more in that way, except from personal experience their video autofocus is awful comparatively speaking
  • The G5 X is better built, looks more premium, has superior screen ergonomics, and can charge in-camera
  • It’s diminutive size and easy ergonomics make this nice for street work when you’re in full daylight (see the cons).

Reviews around exposure (3.95 of 5)

  • All lenses focus accurately where you want them to, which is I think is critical (and difficult to nail quickly), as the exposure is a lot easier to handle using the P-A-S-M modes in creating a keeper
  • Reliable tack-sharp exposure and selective focus on an F 1.8 lens or an F 2 or F 2.8 lens is a pure joy and a creative epiphany
  • —its touch and drag selective dual pixel auto focus through the viewfinder, and reliable perfect focus and superb exposure are unlike anything else I’ve encountered in a camera.
  • Rival Sony’s or Panasonic’s offer much more in that way, except from personal experience their video autofocus is awful comparatively speaking

Reviews around m5 (3.86 of 5)

  • I like M5 to some extent but it doesn't quite match the
  • I could have mapped that to a function button, but at this point the M5 was feeling like a burden... and a $1000 burden
  • I could have mapped that to a function button, but at this point the M5 was feeling like a burden... and a $1000 burden
  • The M5 is the least intuitive, and, as is common to mirrorless cameras, it's slow to respond
  • Unfortunately the M5 felt like a burden in a way no other camera ever has

Reviews around screen (3.53 of 5)

  • The build quality of the camera is fine and the back screen and viewfinder are super sharp and bright
  • I personally prefer a simple flip up/down screen as opposed to a fully articulating screen
  • With an articulating screen I need to flip the screen out to the side before I can flip up and down
  • Sometimes the screen is hard to read in bright light - maybe they could come up with a simple solution, like a shade.
  • The G5 X is better built, looks more premium, has superior screen ergonomics, and can charge in-camera

Reviews around lense (3.22 of 5)

  • The only disappointing this is that Canon doesn't have fast lenses for this M mount
  • You would need the adapter to use decent lenses on this camera because most of the ones offered will not yield images that are better than a smartphone
  • I still carry 5dmk3 with me sometimes but its main purpose now is for fast prime lenses like 135L. I use slow zooms on M5 and fast primes on full frame
  • I am likely going to be carrying the M5 for many family and social events because of its light weight, good lenses and good response.
  • But with dismal low-light auto focus, slow native lenses, poor ISO performance, and a lack of third party glass choices, you should pick a one of its incredible competitors and leave the M5 on the shelf
