I love the software and all its capabilities - especially that it is embedded in the computer

The software is seamless and this is a must-have for the mobile office.

Scanning documents were pretty easy after setting the options to my needs, setting the dpi higher than automatic, for example the maximum 600 dpi, did slow down the scanning process, as expected, higher quality, slower scan

If you are scanning photos, be certain that you set it to the highest quality (slowest) scan if you want your scans to match the exact coloring and quality of your original photo.(4)

That being said, it also produced a better quality scan

The Canon imageFORMULA R10 Portable Document Scanner is a really great document scanner

Sadly, it is a significant enough defect that it renders the machine completely useless for scanning anything other than unimportant documents.

A few good scans, followed by lots of fine lines and one big thick one on the left

I did notice that the highest quality photo papers produced the worst scans.

The next 3-4 scans were perfect once again, so I assumed that the problem was that one of my original photos had something on it which stuck to the scanner

I did not get this primarily for that purpose, although I did want it for scanning other office items (brochures, pamphlets, work docs, sending scanned hard copies of files to people via PDF, receipts, etc.), and it's fantastic for that purpose
