They come with round and rectangular metal sheets for the back of your phone - I recommend the rectangular one, because it's larger, and allows for more flexible phone placement, depending on where a car's vents are with respect to other things you don't want to block with your phone.

If your vent fins are more horizontal than vertical, the phone's screen won't be very visible to you, but it would still work as a hands' free phone, and a quick and easy place to keep your phone when driving.
