The shell is not hard, but soft like Rubbermaid garbage can but much thinner, and it gives when you press on it

This is one of the only CD cases I found in a cursory search on Amazon where the shell is made from a stiffer material rather than fabric like many others

Good quality shell, the plastic that holds the CD's in the sleeves is a little cheap and may end up separating sooner rather than later, but so far this has done the job.

and i did not have to worry about them because i knew they were safely secured by the hard shell.
