The quality is super, a constant characteristic of Casio since the '70's
This is a well-built quality product, priced less than the competition with a better feature set
The only small disadvantage is that connecting it to the internet isn't as easy as with TIs, and there appear to be fewer programmes available for the Casio
But if you go on to study circuits and upper level engineering topics, then this Casio 9860gii sits in a sort of "nowhere-land" -- It isn't as powerful or usable as you'd like, but also not as simple or cheap as some of Casio's great scientific calculators.
Everything is fine, high quality finish and crisp clear screen with back light
Overall it is a great instrument, an useful tool for engineering students
It is somewhat complete, has nice graphics tools and capabilities, the battery last long, it is programmable and has great alternatives for math writings forms
She's studying computer science and she says this is the best tool she has had to solve her math problems
It is a very useful tool to study!Este calculador es asombroso!
I have always used Casio for my school and my university; when my old calculator damaged (water was dropped on to it), I didn't hesitate about purchasing another Casio; and I do not regret that decision
The only small disadvantage is that connecting it to the internet isn't as easy as with TIs, and there appear to be fewer programmes available for the Casio

Having used both the TI-84 Plus and this, the Casio is so much easier to use, once you understand how to use it
After the steep learning curve, he now loves the Casio and strongly prefers it to the TI.Why does he
Plus CE had a much prettier display, however the monochrome display of the Casio was much easier to read
The natural display really works well, better than any other calculator, and it graphs at lightening speed and finds roots etc effortlessly
This allows me to review any blank or empty-minded areas and anyone who wants this Calculator I most certainly recommend it if you prefer a natural display over TI"s Linear display
I prefer Casio natural textbook display as I can easily replicate any equation in textbooks and save them for later
As others have noted the processing time is fast (so is the TI, but this displays things like graphs much faster)Some disadvantages include:(-
The only small disadvantage is that connecting it to the internet isn't as easy as with TIs, and there appear to be fewer programmes available for the Casio
Connecting to a project for example would seem like a handy feature for a teacher, however, I'm unlikely to ever use the function
Another nice feature is that it doesn't replace what you've typed in if you want to insert an integer or variable you forgot, which annoyed the hell outta me on the 84.

The backlight is a nice feature as well, although I don't see too much of a need for it as I do homework in good lighting.

It is a very good value for the money and more intuitive to use than a TI.

It is not that the TI is better, but it has a larger market share in upper level classes (college algebra, calculus, physics...) so teachers are used to it
The TI did have one advantage over the Casio, it will display fractions inside a matrix
