Reviews around deal (5.00 of 5)

  • In truth, for a beginner, this violin seems like a great deal, but only if it arrived in new and undamaged.
  • If you're looking for an electric violin that won't cost you and arm and a leg, even with the repair work, this is a pretty good deal
  • If I consider the value of just those three pieces, I think its still a pretty good deal.
  • For what it is, and by that I mean, for what I payed for it, I think this is a great deal
  • Does not have great sound, but great deal for the full set-up.

Reviews around value (5.00 of 5)

  • The strings really are the core of an instrument; the rest is just amplification and reverb, and even these are sold separately on an electric instrument.(Incidentally, be sure to put the little parchment tone-filter from the nice new E string so that it sits on the bridge, or the wire will slice through it over time, like an ultra-slow-motion cheese-cutter
  • My biggest complaint is that I've never been able to get as much volume as I'd like out of the electronics, whether connected to headphones or an amplifier.
  • for the money this a good practice violin, everything works as it should.
  • The A string and E string fine tuners were really loose and I had to reset them

Reviews around practice (5.00 of 5)

  • for the money this a good practice violin, everything works as it should.
  • With a mute attached you can hook up the headphones and get some good practice in while being quiet.
  • The Cecilio is a good violin for beginners (I think) for those accustomed to the sound of acoustics you may want to look at the Shar electric models when considering a silent practice instrument
  • for the money this a good practice violin, everything works as it should.
  • This is a good practice violin for playing when you don't want to be too loud.

Reviews around condition (5.00 of 5)

  • Bow seems to be in good condition, headphones are cheaply made and honestly don't even need to be included
  • Other than that the violin did come in great condition and the sound post did work really well with my headphones
  • later). The exterior instrument case that the violin came in was in perfect condition; however, once we opened the case we were sadly disappointed.
  • However, mine arrived quickly, in good condition, and works well.

Reviews around price (5.00 of 5)

  • The price is even good as well for this, my uncle is a violinist and I gave him to try it out when he visited
  • And the sound was pretty nice (but this same pro player gave me a set of strings they don't like, which was more expensive than this instrument, so I don't know how it sounds with stock strings). For the price, quality is very decent and this can make a very decent beginners instrument
  • The A string and E string fine tuners were really loose and I had to reset them
  • The strings really are the core of an instrument; the rest is just amplification and reverb, and even these are sold separately on an electric instrument.(Incidentally, be sure to put the little parchment tone-filter from the nice new E string so that it sits on the bridge, or the wire will slice through it over time, like an ultra-slow-motion cheese-cutter

Reviews around build (5.00 of 5)

  • The only positive thing said was that the frame was well built
  • A well-built instrument with all the functionality of an expensive violin
  • The overall build quality and appearance is satisfactory

Reviews around tuner (4.33 of 5)

  • It has real wood parts, real tuners and fine tuners, and is generally a perfectly fine instrument.
  • The A string and E string fine tuners were really loose and I had to reset them
  • The a fine tuner doesn't work
  • The strings really are the core of an instrument; the rest is just amplification and reverb, and even these are sold separately on an electric instrument.(Incidentally, be sure to put the little parchment tone-filter from the nice new E string so that it sits on the bridge, or the wire will slice through it over time, like an ultra-slow-motion cheese-cutter
  • I removed the fine tuners on all but the "e" string and retained the existing strings

Reviews around thing (4.10 of 5)

  • The only positive thing said was that the frame was well built
  • One could get used to it, but it’s not the best sounding thing in the world.
  • This would be a good thing to some, but since we know all Cecillio products come with the bridge not assembled (this is the 4th Cecillio product we own
  • After a month and a bit, I have to admit: my plan has backfired, I love this little thing, and now actually intend to upgrade to a really, really nice wood violin, just as soon as I can get to the point where I won't utterly embarrass myself if I take a trip to a dealer of fine instruments and try them out
  • Hopefully, things work out better with the next brand that I try.

Reviews around case (4.03 of 5)

  • I like the case, except that one of the zipper tabs broke after minimal usage
  • The strings really are the core of an instrument; the rest is just amplification and reverb, and even these are sold separately on an electric instrument.(Incidentally, be sure to put the little parchment tone-filter from the nice new E string so that it sits on the bridge, or the wire will slice through it over time, like an ultra-slow-motion cheese-cutter
  • Other than that everything was pretty solid and the case it came with was very nice.

Reviews around quality (3.81 of 5)

  • Honestly, every one had a nice pickup quality for the price, but everything else is an uncertainty.
  • Sound quality for the strings is good, and I really am enjoying learning how to play the violin on this.
  • The case is really nice quality considering the price and everything you get
  • this comes with are all pretty poor quality, and in my opinion not worth using at all, even for a beginner
  • this electric violin is of decent quality, it does what its supposed to do, and for the price it is not bad

Reviews around sound (3.72 of 5)

  • The stings make enough sound to hear, but if there's someone in the next room, they won't hear you playing
  • Does not have great sound, but great deal for the full set-up.
  • Lastly, and maybe this is because I'm used to an old rich sounding violin, the sound the violin produces is mediocre at best
  • You can hook this violin into your standard amplifier and it will produce a very nice sound
  • so I wanted something with a good sound but wouldnt wake the baby in the next room

Reviews around instrument (3.72 of 5)

  • Terrible instrument, it never played well and became decoration only.
  • Now, about the shipping - the box doesn't really provide any protection and in my case the instrument arrived with a broken bow (tip was broken in half) and 2 snapped strings
  • I have really enjoyed this instrument as a beginner violinist
  • It has real wood parts, real tuners and fine tuners, and is generally a perfectly fine instrument.
  • So, this instrument is not perfect - the bridge is a little high, and the paint is a little uneven, and the included headphones and strings are pretty chintzy.

Reviews around hair (1.80 of 5)

  • The bow's hairs were entangled in the case's latching mechanism which resulted in broken hairs.
  • It was also stored fully tensed/tightened which is a huge NO NO since storing a bow with the hairs tensioned for long periods of time can ruin the hairs by stretching them, thus you will not be able to create the proper friction when coursing the strings.
  • this can damage the hairs on a bow if used and it is recommended not to utilize rosin in this condition.b

Reviews around rosin (1.69 of 5)

  • The other issue I had was the bow, it was fairly low quality and even with my good rosin and spending 30 minutes rosining the bow the most I got out of it was a very scratchy whisper
  • The rosin, while not amazing, was a decent dark amber rosin
  • The rosin must be broken in to properly adhere to the bow hair, which I now see is normal
  • The rosin isn't the best and although not broken, getting a better quality rosin is necessary.
  • I opened it to find the rosin had shattered despite it being packed within the violins case
