Reviews around value (5.00 of 5)

  • I feel it is an excellent value and would recommend this package to anyone interested in starting lessons
  • As you can see from the picture, the spacing between the D string and the A string is quite a bit more than the spacing between the G and D as well as the A and E.
  • Overall, by all appearances this is a remarkable value and I have no regrets about this purchase

Reviews around tune (5.00 of 5)

  • This guy rocks, tunes just fine if you know what your doing
  • For the price it is a very good quality violin, not only is it gorgeous but the tune is so wonderful, great for those who are looking to upgrade from there biginner violin
  • The pegs slipped initially but after applying a little pressure to push them in toward the peg box the problem was solved and they have now been keeping their tune very well!
  • Also, it does not feel like it might fall apart when tuning it (unless you are a careless brute), as I have heard that some of the lowest end violins feel like when they are being tuned
  • The instrument holds a tune very well and despite playing it for around 2 hours per day, I haven't had to do more than a small adjustment on one or two strings every other day or so

Reviews around rest (5.00 of 5)

  • The shoulder rest it comes with is decent, but I would recommend a Kun rest or something similar
  • But if I have to replace the bridge, get a decent shoulder rest, and get a case that can hold it all correctly, I might as well have gone with a more expensive kit to begin with.
  • This is a nice 1/2 size starter set that includes everything a kid would need to get started, including a decent shoulder rest, tuner, and music book

Reviews around quality (4.10 of 5)

  • Overall, it's a bad quality violin
  • Nice quality build, the sound tanks as acceptable to me, but my student seems to really like it

  • He said it was good quality and he was extremely happy with it!

Reviews around student (4.03 of 5)

  • After reading all of the reviews, I was not quite sure what to expect, but I did not allow myself to expect too much from a modern student violin (in this age of cheaply made products and rock-bottom quality control), so I was pleased when the Cecilio CVN-500 violin turned out to be of better quality than I had allowed myself to expect
  • Which is great oddly even with the change of strings the D string resonates way louder than any of the others
  • And while not top shelf, they are decent student strings
  • Nice quality build, the sound tanks as acceptable to me, but my student seems to really like it

Reviews around case (3.70 of 5)

  • Really like the case was part of the deal light and simple
  • It has everything g she needs and the case is very nice
  • A strap broke off the case after a couple months, but I'm going to sew it back on
  • Otherwise, the case padding is nice, the interior is also nice
  • This violin comes in a canvas hard case that is cheap but does the trick

Reviews around instrument (3.61 of 5)

  • Good instrument for the money, however the E string was worthless
  • All around its a good instrument for a beginner and the book it comes with is great for teaching yourself
  • Fantastic instrument for beginners and possibly intermediate students as well!
  • This is a very well-made instrument for the price (I got mine used but pretty much brand new condition)
  • The price is every bit worth it as opposed to renting an instrument and losing money in the long run!

Reviews around shoulder (3.53 of 5)

  • It is definitely NOT a toy or a cheap-o, and I can see myself playing it for a long time
  • But if I have to replace the bridge, get a decent shoulder rest, and get a case that can hold it all correctly, I might as well have gone with a more expensive kit to begin with.
  • This is a nice 1/2 size starter set that includes everything a kid would need to get started, including a decent shoulder rest, tuner, and music book
  • I have my own shoulder rest that works better--which means I had to take the chin rest off
  • Which is great oddly even with the change of strings the D string resonates way louder than any of the others

Reviews around sound (3.48 of 5)

  • It is definitely NOT a toy or a cheap-o, and I can see myself playing it for a long time
  • For the price this is an excellent violin for intermediate players who are able to get a better sound out of an instrument.
  • Nice quality build, the sound tanks as acceptable to me, but my student seems to really like it
  • The sound is great but needs break-in, the bows are ok but can be upgraded, the strings are good and it tunes very well
  • (We have owned the first for over 3 years) and they have good sound.

Reviews around tuner (3.31 of 5)

  • It contains a free tuner that works very well (tip: hold the power button for a few seconds to turn it on or off)
  • One fine tuner was defective (G string tuner), the screw bypassed the tuner lever when screwed in and needed to be replaced.
  • The tailpiece is solid enough and the fine tuners are actually really well made.
  • Overall, minus two dead AAA batteries and one fine tuner that didn't work quite right, the violin looks fantastic and sounds very good for the price.

Reviews around look (3.22 of 5)

  • Even with the defects, though, it is still a nice looking violin
  • This is a very nice looking and sounding violin has great features and
  • It is definitely NOT a toy or a cheap-o, and I can see myself playing it for a long time
  • The violin itself is nice looking: satin finished antique color that is unpretentous and classy
  • No flames on the back just blah and has a small puncture or slice in the spruce top (looks like some one put an exacto blade right through the top)
