The price is affordable, the EQ mount is good for the price
I think this is a great intro to the hobby for a good price.
I know I am asking for a bit when the price is so good but something to be aware that maybe common as it was more of a tripod issue and not really the telescope itself
This is a very high-quality, solid telescope at a great price
Still a good price for a potentially lifelong telescope

Given that using an equatorial telescope is inherently time consuming and requires a lot of patience this poorly designed and manufactured device will discourage most beginners, and end up in a storage locker or as a never-used showpiece
The images you see are pretty good for a beginner as well
my main issues, - beginners need good working equipment to enjoy the experience
Well for Christmas we planned on getting her a good "beginner telescope"
Great beginner scope - learn RA & Dec. techniques and see good stuff!

I read Amazon reviews and was influenced until I started reading on Stargazing forums and saw a repetitive history of bad experiences.
Overall, I do recommend getting it - you do get a lot of power for the price, and it's a great educational experience to manipulate the telescope yourself
This is my first telescope and all of the issues listed above made for a good learning experience.
Overall I had a great experience with this telescope and I cannot wait to look at the sky again

the only thing you can really see with this is the moon so for the price its expensive
Well for starters it was great at viewing the moon, jupiter as a small white dot and it’s moons, mars is a red blob, and Saturn is a small dot and a ring around it but very blurry
The controls are a BIG pain to use I was having trouble finding the moon with this thing it takes a while to find things especially with the cheap slow motion controls, the tripod is fairly sturdy it didn't really give me problems
The moon will blow you away and you can see great detail on the lunar surface.
Great for me as a beginner ..the moon looks freaking awesome with this

The 4mm does not offer a clear image on anything other than the moon so far.
Casual test with one of the eyepieces showed very good 'normal' (not inverted) image
but I can’t see anything smaller than the moon (and what a spectacular image
I just wish it came with some kind of nice storage case and that there was a way to keep it more steady when you are viewing because every little bump of the telescope makes the image shake really bad at such high magnifications
even with the main bolt tightened further one still couldn’t touch once sighted else you could see nothing but a shaky image

If you are a beginner and want to look at things "out of the box" get yourself a refractor and spend as much as you can afford on it
You will need to add a steal donut washer and hard plastic slide donut washer just in front of the secondary mirror to ease the fine adjustments to the secondary mirror
Unfortunately, this telescope "works" as it was designed to work, which is poorly
not as well as you can with more premium telescopes
We finally found someone who has experience with telescopes and he said it has a defect of some kind or is just missing a

n’t recommend extending the ‘feet’ much, if at all, or it shakes pretty badly
First, the fine tuning adjustment rods are very jumpy when trying to follow or spot objects very far away, and secondly the spotting scope mount is made from a cheap, flexible plastic that can accidentally be adjusted by simply and unknowingly touching it, making it almost impossible to spot distant small objects such as the gas giants making it very annoying

The scope needed collimating right out of box, the secondary mirror very loose
Many work perfectly right out of the box but with this type of scope the mirrors can need a tiny bit of adjustment once you receive it.
It uses a cheap spherical mirror instead of a parabolic one and then tries to correct for the spherical aberration with a barlow lens at the bottom of the focuser
Then you will be looking for a better mount and maybe a bigger mirror..maybe like an 8 inch
I assume the mirror or corrector are defective, otherwise you would'ent get the large number of positive reviews

If you are willing to put up with the cheap slow motion controls and collimating the telescope and aligning the finderscope and only to look at the moon and some planets then this telescope is for you
n’t recommend extending the ‘feet’ much, if at all, or it shakes pretty badly
my problem was how cheap the slow motion controls were it takes forever to find something especially since whatever you are looking at is slowly moving away
The slow motion controls are plastic and feel like they can snap any second when you turn them, they're pretty cheaply made thats the only thing I feel is cheaply made though
In addition, the slow motion controls felt very cheap like they would break after a couple uses as did the finder scope

Although the slow motion controls do take a little getting used to if you're like me and never used them before.
n’t recommend extending the ‘feet’ much, if at all, or it shakes pretty badly
The motion of the scope is smooth so tracking a planet is pretty easy with the adjustment knobs

a slight breeze would cause the image in your scope to shake/vibrate
The slightest breezes will cause shaking.
