The price is affordable, the EQ mount is good for the price

I think this is a great intro to the hobby for a good price.

I know I am asking for a bit when the price is so good but something to be aware that maybe common as it was more of a tripod issue and not really the telescope itself

This is a very high-quality, solid telescope at a great price

Still a good price for a potentially lifelong telescope

Not that easy to all set up and line up with what u need but soon as u get it its accurate

Given that using an equatorial telescope is inherently time consuming and requires a lot of patience this poorly designed and manufactured device will discourage most beginners, and end up in a storage locker or as a never-used showpiece

The images you see are pretty good for a beginner as well

Even when using higher quality eyepieces (sold separately) the views were filled with coma and just plain awful

This telescope is great for looking at the moon gives a fairly clear view

When trying to look through it, even a slight tap on the scope will cause it to shudder and make viewing difficult until it dies down.

I read Amazon reviews and was influenced until I started reading on Stargazing forums and saw a repetitive history of bad experiences.

Overall, I do recommend getting it - you do get a lot of power for the price, and it's a great educational experience to manipulate the telescope yourself

I have had many EQ mount telescopes and I have never seen quality this poor from a company like Celestron

The pieces are not a complete, bad product, I would not recommend buying them.

Well for starters it was great at viewing the moon, jupiter as a small white dot and it’s moons, mars is a red blob, and Saturn is a small dot and a ring around it but very blurry

The controls are a BIG pain to use I was having trouble finding the moon with this thing it takes a while to find things especially with the cheap slow motion controls, the tripod is fairly sturdy it didn't really give me problems

The moon will blow you away and you can see great detail on the lunar surface.

The 4mm does not offer a clear image on anything other than the moon so far.

Casual test with one of the eyepieces showed very good 'normal' (not inverted) image

I bought this for my niece because she can't see any deep space objects with the one she has

As deep space objects and ease of viewing without constant efforts to adjust movement of scope to keep objects insight is troublesome.

The gears in the tripod are a bit jumpy, not as smooth as I had expected.

It uses a cheap spherical mirror instead of a parabolic one and then tries to correct for the spherical aberration with a barlow lens at the bottom of the focuser

my problem was how cheap the slow motion controls were it takes forever to find something especially since whatever you are looking at is slowly moving away

The slow motion controls are plastic and feel like they can snap any second when you turn them, they're pretty cheaply made thats the only thing I feel is cheaply made though

In addition, the slow motion controls felt very cheap like they would break after a couple uses as did the finder scope
