• Reviews around mirror (1.83 of 5)

Celestron - PowerSeeker 127EQ Telescope - Manual German Equatorial Telescope for Beginners - Compact and Portable - Bonus Astronomy Software Package - 127mm Aperture

    • And the primary mirror at the back of the optical tube was supposed to have three bolts/screws to keep the mirror in place, but one of them was broken, so I couldn't even adjust the mirror
    • It uses a cheap spherical mirror instead of a parabolic one and then tries to correct for the spherical aberration with a barlow lens at the bottom of the focuser
    • Then you will be looking for a better mount and maybe a bigger mirror..maybe like an 8 inch
    • The mirrors were misaligned and I wasted over 2hrs
    • I find the Secondary mirror and Primary mirror hard to work on with Phillips head screws.
    • The scope needed collimating right out of box, the secondary mirror very loose
    • Terrible mirror quality and cheap make!
    • when you collimate, doing this will let you see both the secondary mirror and the primary, also note, this went through shipping and if it arrived with all the mirrors aligned and ready to go, get a power ball ticket because you'd be the luckiest person on the planet4
    • One advantage was ,I could shake the entire secondary mirror and watched into main tube
    • Luck protected the mirror
    • Cons: aligning the mirrors is extremely difficult, without aligning you will be frustrated with fuzzy images of everything you look at, instructional DVD is just about useless
    • Evidently damaged in shipping the internal mirrors moved and impossible to set up to view even the moon.
    • Arrived with the primary mirror completely loose and bouncing around inside the tube
    • Many work perfectly right out of the box but with this type of scope the mirrors can need a tiny bit of adjustment once you receive it.
    • I assume the mirror or corrector are defective, otherwise you would'ent get the large number of positive reviews
    • I wish they would of told me that shipping it will knock the mirrors out of line and that you will then need to buy a laser collimator to line it up
    • Support is 9-5 M-F.
