Be suspicious of most new telescopes that cost less, just as you would be suspicious of a "new" car that cost only $2,000.I also wanted to note that I have three Celestron telescopes (Schmidt-Cassegrains) that I absolutely love, and I have never personally owned a poor Celestron product, so my review here is not because I hold a grudge against the Celestron
