Celestron - PowerSeeker 127EQ Telescope - Manual German Equatorial Telescope for Beginners - Compact and Portable - Bonus Astronomy Software Package - 127mm Aperture

    • Once properly setup the scope is enjoyable for a telescope in this price range.
    • I would suggest that you use it in the daytime, find a focal point and center it on the top scope, then look through the side scope and see what part of that object you see
    • The Scope tends to loose the object when you transfer from spotting scope to the actual viewer
    • I can't recommend this scope for any beginners.....way too complicated with no help.
    • so you will need to replace it along with a better finder scope
    • Overall, this is a great scope for the price
    • The instructions contained pictures and the scope went together pretty well except for one of the long adjustment knobs
    • Again, giving the scope the benefit of the doubt on several unmentioned things, but I think the lousy finder scope was worth at least a 2 star deduction in itself.
    • However, with a little fine tuning, this is a great scope for what you pay.
    • Is this a good scope for beginners
    • Celestron makes very good scopes, but this one is not much more than a toy.
    • This is a great entry level scope
    • This seemed like an affordable but good quality scope and it did make a few “Top Telescopes for 2020” lists
    • When properly set up, balanced and overall ready to view, it's a great scope and it's a lot of fun
    • Celestron's customer service is spot on and is as a good as this scope is bad
    • A nice scope and good overall value, though.
    • It's a good starter scope if you do not have those issues as I did.
    • First off, I would recommend losing the finder scope that comes with this, and get a red dot finder, you will save yourself much frustration.
    • I probably should have held out for a better and bigger scope $$.
    • I cannot recommend this scope
    • Great Scope for the price
    • This scope is portable and easy to assemble and use
    • Been using telescopes for over 30 years, this is a cheap, disappointing scope
    • Great beginner scope - learn RA & Dec. techniques and see good stuff!
    • nice scope, collimation was even spot
    • Tripod not supporting scope.
    • I know most in the astronomy community savage this scope (including some forums recommending people returning it to get something more expensive).
    • Seems like a great beginners scope, really does take a lot to get it set up though.
    • After very little time collimating, this little scope is great
    • Between the complexity of collimating the mirror and using the equatorial mount, this is not a suitable scope for a beginner unless they will be learning from an experienced star gazer
    • Nice scope for the money, if you dont mind having some broken parts
    • you want to make those changes i was talking about below is a link that might help you to improve your scope
    • I think this is a good beginner scope, but some may want to invest a few more dollars up front if the cheap feel is going to ruin your time star gazing.
    • One aside: this might not be a good kid-friendly scope
    • Awesome scope for the money
    • If you have a cool calm head and willing to take this apart and get things aligned, then for $150 this scope really isn't that bad.
    • A decent scope with many features
    • Great starter scope
    • This scope works great for that.
    • LOVE THIS SCOPE!!!
    • Overall, if you want to get started in stargazing this is a great scope
    • It definitely isn't the best scope, but it's a great bargain for what you get
    • But then again this is the cheapest scope in its range.
    • got a lot to learn to be able to enjoy this awesome scope , but I love it !!
    • Great scope with perpetually flawed alignment.
    • Nice scope at a great price
    • It makes a great beater scope in that case
    • Celestron cut corners on the EQ mount on this package, the scope on the other hand was very good even with the low quality lens that come with it
    • Pros:- moon looks awesome through this scope- pretty good magnification for the
    • The EQ mount is usable, but the aluminum tripod legs wobble the scope too much
    • Great 1st scope
    • (there are no "collimation shops" where they'll do it for you) every few months or weeks, depending on how careful you are with the scope and how well the Chinese assembly line worker put your scope together.
    • all in all a great beginning scope very powerful scope no complaints not great for traveling is the only thing but was very surprised at the power of it ...
    • Powerful scope and greatfor a middle schooler interested in astronomy!
    • I bought this scope for my step son for Christmas, and now must go through the hassle and disappointment of returning a faulty scope
    • Great scope for the price
    • that is it, the 2 key factors in BEGINNERS actually enjoying the scope are very poorly chosen, the tripod and finder scope.
    • it was a great scope for the first 10
    • Celestron's customer service is spot on and is as a good as this scope is bad
    • This is a great beginner scope for the money
    • The Spotting Scope is a joke and impossible to align.3
    • Again, giving the scope the benefit of the doubt on several unmentioned things, but I think the lousy finder scope was worth at least a 2 star deduction in itself.
    • I recommend getting a better finder scope
    • Overall, I would say, this is a great scope for a beginner
    • For that price, it's an excellent scope that will provide hours of wonder
    • The scope it comes with is very flimsy and almost impossible to adjust.
    • It is an inexpensive tool that will allow you to focus on enjoying your scope as opposed to struggling to set it up.
    • I must say this is the excellent scope for beginners
    • I know this is a good scope because a fellow astronomer has one and that is why I bought this one
    • If you love to tinker knock yourself out however, this isn't the most powerful scope you can buy so, eye collimation is more than enough to be happy.2
    • The tripod is good, except me crashing the scope, but I don’t think that it’s the product fault.
    • Seriously, an amazing scope to view the night sky.
    • Good starter scope.
    • Bottom line, this was just the wrong scope for me
    • I 'should' have just spent that on a slightly better or different brand scope that needs NOTHING more to work well
    • This scope is amazing for the price
    • I ended up getting an AWB onesky, and I'd recommend a tabletop Dobsonian mount reflector for slightly more money, there's a reason other 5" reflectors with much simpler mounts cost about $30 more, they put the money into good quality optics, this is a terrible scope on an ok mount that isn't good enough to justify the cost
    • The telescope was a great starter scope but the controls were very stiff and moving the scope around the sky was difficult.
    • The Celestron Powerseeker 127 eq scope takes constant TLC adjustments, modifications to obtain a usable scope, and even then it is no better than a toy, because it has a spherical low cost easier to manufacture primary mirror that gives the user only the center area of the field of view though the eyepiece for a in focus image
    • The views this scope offers are nothing like what you see online from much more expensive scopes
    • You will notice is way off to the upper left, if you can mark that point on the top finder scope so when you are looking at night you will know where to aim
    • I got a laser one for pretty cheap and it was well worth the money to have an accurate scope that doesn't invert the image
    • ** now that I had my dad correct a few things for me and check the collimating this scope is actually pretty great
    • This telescope is being sold as a great scope for beginners with very easy set up
    • Perhaps a good scope but mine came in damaged
    • A decent finder scope can be obtained relatively inexpensively and look for one that either has thumbwheel adjustments or front and rear adjustment screws to assist with aiming and to help keep the alignment in place.
    • I would recommend a refractor scope as those are much simpler and harder to damage.
    • Wish it had a better mount but great scope for beginner to novice.
    • Great scope
    • Pretty good scope
    • Some parts feel too plasticky and cheap (like the scope mount and eye
    • My scope came pretty well aligned
    • if this is your first scope don't get mad if you can't see Uranusthis scope will be limited in seeing because of its size of only (127mm) or 5". if you are wanting to see deeper sky objects you my wantto consider a 8" or 10" reflector, the bigger the more you can see.(note
    • A very nice high-end beginner scope
    • This is an amazing little introductory scope.
    • It's a great scope for the money
    • The finder scope is unusable While I agree, it's not the best finder scope out there and lining it up with the telescope can take a long
    • :Just wanted to report that I've made some modifications to this cheap scope I received as a Father's Day gift (replaced factory-installed collimation screws with thumb screws and metal springs for easier collimation, reinforced the focuser so it doesn't wobble a lot when using a heavy eyepiece, tightened the equatorial mount screws and installed rubber chair leg caps on its legs to make it sturdier). All in all, for being my first telescope, it's been a lot of fun fiddling with it to help it reach its full potential, and it helped me to learn a lot on how to use and take care of a telescope, collimation steps, aligning and using an equatorial mount, etc
    • I wanted to list a couple pro's/consPro - The scope looks very well built Solid spider that should keep the secondary mirror aligned The fact it has 2 eye pieces and a barlow is great for a kid or this is your first scope
    • This is a very, very bad scope which Celestron should stop making and selling.
    • : The scope itself is a lie, It does not have the focal length it provides, It is more like 400 to 450mm vs the reported 1200mm as there is an imbedded lens right at after the secondary mirror to provide this extra length
    • but proper 50 mm tube finder scopes cost $50.- $70.)
    • If you love to tinker knock yourself out however, this isn't the most powerful scope you can buy so, eye collimation is more than enough to be happy.2
    • Would I recommend this scope to buy for your kids?
    • It is an inexpensive tool that will allow you to focus on enjoying your scope as opposed to struggling to set it up.
    • Good scope for the
