A clear top with a solid/opaque bottom would be ideal, so the bird feels safe, and humans can enjoy viewing them in the bath.

Overall, this is a sturdy, great bird bath.

Very sturdy very good product unfortunately my bird didn't like it.

Try it a few different ways until you bird gets comfortable with it and feels safe to go inside it.
