These things, as with most cheap electronics these days, appear to be hit or miss as to whether one gets a beautifully working item or a lemon

I like the sound on it, and it is made much better than the newer, lighter phones that break really easily.
If I turn the volume up enough (on the receiver) to hear it well the sound is scratchy.!
It rings VERY softly once then only makes a vibrating sound.

Other than the soft ring tone, this seems to be a very good basic phone
