Altho upon inspection of the replacement unit, the mechanism for the push-button release looks fairly cheap.

Had a slight issue with the lid not opening when the release button was pressed, manually working the mechanism a couple of times resolved the issue

In each case the lid mechanism failed and to top would no longer open so it could not be cleaned.

The first kettle's lid would not close after almost one year of use, due to faulty mechanism - clearly a safety issue

The mechanism which operates to top cap broke within a month of service and after 1.5 year the kettle died completely...

Does not retain the heat as well as I would like perhaps, but is otherwise a great kettle.

This kettle, however, never worked as stated, and the hottest I've been able to get the water, no matter the setting, has been 155 degrees
