It gets one star for looks and another because it still boils water.

I would easily give 4 stars (less a star because for location of the water indicator) but my lid broke after about 1 year of use

A top 5 stars, but it is prone to breaking down a LOT

Only 4 stars because the water level window hidden inside the big, easy to hold handle is pretty ridiculous.

Loses a star because it should probably be better insulated; the outside gets too hot to touch.

Now the the missing 5th star reasons:-The handle is unnecessarily chunky, I am big guy but that handle is a handful making it less user friendly for ladies and kids, if the circumference was juts half inch less it would have been a perfect handle.-The short power cord is extremely stiff relative to the light base, the random shape cord is unsightly and impossible to "train" into a new shape

Everything else has worked great though, so I give 4 stars as perhaps if exchanged, I would not have this problem again.

Four star due to outer body temp gets hot too, and nothing is perfect.

Does not retain the heat as well as I would like perhaps, but is otherwise a great kettle.
