• Reviews around carafe (3.32 of 5)

Cuisinart DCC-1150BK 10-Cup Classic Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker, Black

    • Lastly, we use one of the scrub brushes on a stick meant for long glasses to clean the carafe regularly without any problem
    • However, the thermal carafe doesn't keep it very warm
    • However the carafe was problematic for me: messy inconsistent pour, coffee not hot enough/long enough, you can't see what's left in the pot and the brew completion audible beeps that seem to annoy many others who reviewed it didn't even work for me
    • The carafe is unable to pour coffee into a mug without a lot of coffee running down its side and spilling everywhere.
    • and I was excited to see they had changed the design so it had a lower profile, held a little more coffee, the electric parts were moved to the top of machine instead of the bottom where they could be flooded if it malfunctioned (how I lost my first one), and they changed the carafe from a glass lined to a stainless lined carafe with a pour thru lid (so you don't have to unscrew it to pour your coffee).
    • DISLIKES: Water reservoir is hard to fill, thermal carafe only reliably keeps coffee warm for 2 hours after brewing, display is a bit hard to read, 5 fairly loud beeps at end of brewing cycle, no ability to adjust brew strength
    • I like to have a couple cups of coffee spaced out over a period of 45 minutes to a couple hours, and this carafe keeps the coffee hot
    • Works out to $20-$30 a year reliably, and the carafe is still good for a backup
    • Previous carafes we could fill up from our fridge and dump into the reservoir.
    • I still have ALL 5 stainless steel carafes because they work
    • I even called the manufacturer and they said that's the design of the carafe, well the carafe is flawed and must have serious problems
    • The thermal carafe will keep coffee hot for a very long time
    • The thermal carafe easily keeps your coffee piping hot for 6-8 hours, probably longer, I just haven't checked
    • The feature only works with pouring a full carafe of water into the holding tank, otherwise it will show it needs cleaning, outsmarting itself (It does have a four cup setting)
    • Totally awesome!Love the carafe and the option to wake to fresh brewed coffee!I'm spoiled already
    • Totally awesome!Love the carafe and the option to wake to fresh brewed coffee!I'm spoiled already
    • Controls are easy to use, thermal carafe keeps coffee hot for several hours, display is not backlit, design makes efficient use of space - all features I was looking for
    • The carafe keeps the coffee hot for 2-3 hours which I like because I have the timer set for 6:00 am and sometimes sleep until 8:00.
    • I accidentally broke the glass carafe on the Cuisinart coffeemaker I'd had for 20 years and couldn't get a replacement.
    • It doesn't have a hinge like the Mr. Coffee but has to be snapped off to both fill the carafe and to clean it
    • Very well designed carafe.
    • We really like the thermal carafes which do not burn the coffee since we drink it over the course of 2-3 hours, but that limits our options since many big box stores will have 3:1 glass:thermal carafe models.
    • The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot and fresh for hours
    • Brews good coffee, keeps coffee hot in attractive carafe, good price.
    • Originally, my product criteria were: thermal carafe, available in white, Cuisinart brand.
    • Lid on carafe difficult to unscrew and remove6- Can hardly read digital clock
    • The thermal carafe does not keep the coffee hot because it is not insulated at the bottom and the top is open so all heat escapes and you have lukewarm coffee within 5 minutes
    • Cannot get the lid off, can't clean the carafe, and now I can't even return it.
    • This creates a tremendous mess on the ironically stainless steel carafe and your counter
    • The stainless steel carafe keeps the coffee warm for quite a while
    • I do like the carafe though.
    • Best parts --No drip carafe and temperature of coffee after brewing is nice and hot.
    • The thermal carafe works well, and was the principal reason I went with Cuisinart once again.
    • And not having to worry about breaking the carafe ,gotta love that
    • , the carafe is extremely frustrating.
    • The benefit over my old maker is the stay-hot carafe and programability.
    • After several years of faithful service from my first Cuisinart DCC-1150BK, the thermal carafe had become badly stained on the inside
    • I dislike the carafe itself once coffee is made it is also in an awkward position to pour into it
    • The carafe stays hot for quite awhile and it pours to the last drop
    • Not only that, but it is nearly impossible to drain the entire carafe without removed the lid completely
    • You have to remember this is stainless steel carafe
    • Love the whole idea but EVEN PRE-HEATING THE CARAFE DOESN'T WORK!!!
    • Cusinart is wrong about this as my friends who have done this have ruined their carafes and filter baskets
    • This is even after I warm the carafe over the gas stove prior to brewing
    • I havent tried to "pre warm" the carafe by heating it with hot water then pouring it
    • The "thermal" carafe keeps the coffee warm about 30 minutes
    • The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for about an hour.
    • I had read other customer reviews that stated leaky carafes before I bought the second coffeemaker and didn't believe there would be a problem with the new replacement .
    • This is my third one in this model, perfect for brewing and love the thermal carafe feature mostly
    • Thermal carafe keep coffee hot for least 2 hours and warm to at least 4 hours
    • The carafe definitely does not keep it hot.
    • Carafe is great.
    • The thermal carafe is great though, we always take one camping, keeps water hot all day for that 2nd cup of hot chocolate or instant coffee...
    • It's extremely awkward using the carafe to fill the coffee maker up with water.
    • The carafe keeps the coffee hot enough for a while
    • this carafe is leaking under the spout
    • Love the stainless steel carafe.
    • This coffeemaker works fine but the thermal carafe does not keep the coffee as hot as our older (now retired) model.
    • Thermal carafe difficult to pour
    • You can’t tip the whole carafe of water in because the lid bumps into the machine
    • It still looks amazing, works amazingly, and I am pretty happy that I could have a spare!I love that the carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours without the burn you get from glass carafes on a burner.
    • Beware though; the carafe is a disaster.
    • And if you are really into HOT coffee, pre-warm your carafe with boiling water
    • Great choice, easy to use, and love the thermally insulated carafe
    • This style of machine will give you a much better tasting cup of coffee than the "burner" machines that keep a glass carafe hot.
    • We love the insulated carafe.
    • While it brews coffee just fine, buttons and programs work well and I love the gold coffee filter - meaning I no longer have to buy filters - the carafe itself is goofed up
    • This pot has a leaking top and the carafe doesn't keep the coffee warm nearly as long.
    • Not sure if I got a defective carafe or not but have been unable to pour a cup without the coffee dribbling down the carafe
    • Before I started to brew, I filled the carafe with super hot water, closed the lid and let it sit for 2 minutes, dumped the water out (and such a waste of water, btw) so that it would warm the "thermal" carafe.
    • Carafe will not leak IF lid is in place
    • I threw away a perfectly good coffee maker for the lack of repair parts or a reasonably price replacement carafe!
    • Personally; I like the stainless steel carafe because the coffee does stay hot for a good 4-5 hours after brewing.
    • The carafe keeps the coffee nice and hot for several hours, it's sturdily built, and you don't have to fumble with any buttons or levels to pour your coffee.
    • I will need a bottle brush to do a really thorough job of cleaning the carafe, but so far I have just run a soapy sponge around the interior (I happen to have small hands), but it is a little tight for cleaning.
    • The problem is with the stainless steel carafe.
    • The only complaint about both models is the carafe dribbles when pouring when there's less than 4 cups left, apparently because the lid has several openings inside and the spout doesn't direct coffee from them smoothly.
    • The only thing about this one was the carafe was faulty
    • Actually the carafe doesn't fit well when setting back in maker and it drips "the usual" for a basic maker.
    • Likes - simple to use, predictable flavor, effective thermal carafe
    • We did and this carafe is just as bad.
    • I purchased this back in April and, as other reviewers had mentioned, after a few months the carafe began leaking when pouring the coffee :(.I now have to fully open the lid to pour so it won't leak.
    • Makes great coffee and the thermal carafe (no not plate
    • Unfortunately I had to first find this out the hard way by having the leaky carafe piss hot coffee all over my hand and actually burn me when I used the machine for the first time
    • The carafe is stainless inside
    • I love the thermal carafe...never break a glass pot again
    • Kept the old stainless carafe.
    • We really like the thermal carafes which do not burn the coffee since we drink it over the course of 2-3 hours, but that limits our options since many big box stores will have 3:1 glass:thermal carafe models.
    • Although the carafe never kept the coffee hot for very long, I would have been willing to overlook that were it not for the machines tendency to brew coffee all over the counter
    • Makes great coffee and the carafe keeps the coffee warm, but only gave it 3 stars because one must tip the carafe almost to the max vertical position to get the last cup out and there is no indication how much coffee is left in the carafe.
    • Better yet, the carafe doesn't leak or drip; the rim of the Kitchen Aide's carafe actually came apart, leaking coffee all over the counter and floor.
    • The stainless carafe is pretty much unbreakable.
    • The carafe is terrible.
    • I will try to get this one refunded unless a good carafe with a different spout is available.
    • Love the thermal carafe, turns off when done brewing and
    • The thermal carafe doesn't keep the coffee hot!
    • The coffee does not get as hot as the glass style carafe
    • Love the carafe.
    • I read all the reviews that talked about the coffee overflowing on to the counter and frankly assumed people weren't replacing the carafe correctly or perhaps never cleaning the carafe (although I am pretty sure every coffee machine I used in college was never cleaned and this never happened).
    • I even called the manufacturer and they said that's the design of the carafe, well the carafe is flawed and must have serious problems
    • When anyone pours coffee into a cup, the poorly designed carafe allows coffee to pour all over the counter top too
    • Thermal carafe is awesome, keeps coffee warm a long time and no more burnt coffee!
    • I will keep asking for a free carafe as long as it keeps working.
    • Like the one we had before but way better with the stainless steel carafe
    • The thermal carafe will keep the coffee hot for 2+ hours.
    • It's done pretty well, the carafe keeps the coffee hot for at least 3 or 4 hours
    • We were drawn to this model when registering because of the 10-Cup capacity (this is just enough for us both in the morning to get a home cup and work cup), as well as the thermal carafe
    • Works great, reliable, and sturdy carafe.
    • Carafe is sturdy.
    • It also has a really nice carafe that is double walled and has air tight lid that keeps your coffee fresh
    • My old machine had the stainless carafe, which kept the coffee warm all day
    • The thermal carafe barely keeps the coffee warm, and then only if you do a good job of preheating it with hot water first
    • The carafe is hard to use ( the cover )
    • I Have found the carafe is also very difficult to clean
    • The carafe is leaking at the seam under the pouring spout
    • The only issue we have had is that the carafe some time will “spew” coffee like an eruption when you pour your java
    • (I broke the carafe, and a replacement carafe costs half the price of a whole new unit.)
    • I really like the thermal carafe.
    • The good: the thermal carafe keeps your coffee warm for most of the day without it tasting burned
    • The carafe is a little hard to clean inside.
    • I don't have to worry about breaking my carafe and finding a replacement.
    • My review is based on comparing this to the Zojirushi."Pros":(1) price is great for what it offers.(2) the carafe keeps the coffee warmer than the Zojirushi did (and/or maybe it brewed the coffee a little hotter in the first place--hard to say)."Cons":(1
    • I could pour water from something else, but what a pain not to use the carafe for this.
    • The carafe did not keep the coffee warm for long and even using the1-4 cup
    • Two days ago I noticed that the plastic pour spout had come undone from the stainless carafe and the water, shortly followed by the coffee, leaked all over everything.
    • Not 5 stars because the carafe is pretty flimsy
    • if you use the glass carafe to fill the water reservoir higher than 6 cups of coffee, it's an awkward exercise of angling the carafe just right to get the water into the receptacle; it's also not easy to read the water gauge on the side - on both points especially pre-coffee..., 2) it's difficult to remove the plastic lid from the glass carafe - again especially pre-coffee, 3
    • Also (at least mine does) the carafe can sometimes pour super fast and has burned my hands several times but I’ve learned how to pour it
    • The carafe is not really thermal and coffee immediately cools down, after coffee is brewed, but if you drink your coffee within twenty minutes, and you don't like piping hot coffee, this is your coffee maker
    • The hot plate scorched through in a spot which, in turn, burned the carafe.... which worsened over time.
    • I make the full 12 cups each time, and pour a cup full, with the rest going into a stainless steel carafe I have from a previous coffee maker
    • I love this coffee maker but the carafe spoils the good because with the drip of the coffee it will eventually get into the warmer plate and mess it up.
    • The stainless steel carafe is a favorite feature because I know it is unbreakable.
    • Will last a long time, it seems, sturdy carafe.
    • There is an auto shutoff, a pause when you don't want to wait for the whole pot to brew when you pour, and the carafe is very easy to lift in and out of the holder
    • Really love the keep hot carafe!
    • Carafe keeps hot water hot all day, but coffee comes out lukewarm and stays that way
    • Love the large carafe.
    • The carafe itself is built well with the exception of the opening at the top.
    • Otherwise, I love that I can't break the carafe.
    • Since I loved the old one I bought this one that has a stainless steel carafe (not likely to break that !
    • You discover pretty quickly that the thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot no longer than an hour
    • The timer is simple to program, and the carafe keeps the coffee hot, and it pours without the need to twist a lid
    • I got a stainless steel carafe because I kept breaking the glass Mr. Coffee carafe that I used to have.
    • Clearly, the technology is available to make a really good carafe, but instead they made one that is just OK.
    • I hate the carafe
    • I wanted a thermal carafe so I can have hot unstale coffee anytime, but I don't even know how effective the thermal carafe is because the coffee is not hot to begin with
    • You know how you lean the carafe on the edge of the mug to tilt it and pour the coffee in
    • As a bonus, I now have both the old and new carafes...great for when I have company and need to brew two pots.
    • Leaky carafe
    • Carafe is hard to pour empty
    • The carafe keeps the coffee reasonably hot for about 8 hours and warm for another 12 hours.
    • The carafe keeps the coffee reasonably hot for about 8 hours and warm for another 12 hours.
    • The good: the thermal carafe keeps your coffee warm for most of the day without it tasting burned
    • We also broke the carafe but it wasn't due to manufacturing quality.
    • I thought I'd like the stainless carafe, but its more trouble than its worth.
    • I like to warm the carafe with hot water as per directions <g. but hubby sees no need
    • It has been replaced due to 'old age' and after dropping and breaking the carafe
    • I like the carafe and the look of it very much
    • Third thing is that the carafe doesn't keep the coffee very warm very long.
    • The carafe keeps the coffee warm for hours, but it is cool to the touch (even on the bottom)
    • Hard to read time and settings and poor design that has me breaking 2 expensive carafes already.
    • I think it's all about expectations, this is a thermal carafe with no heat plate (which is exactly what we wanted), so like a thermos, if you want the coffee to stay hot longer, you can prime the carafe by filling it with hot water for a few minutes before starting the coffee.
    • You have to place your mug on a flat surface, fill it and then clean up the mess you've made all around the cup due to the leaky carafe pissing hot coffee ever where
    • After reading reviews, I was sceptical about the coffee being hot but was pleasantly surprised - a full carafe stays very hot
    • The opening is at the back and too small for the rather bulky carafe (which tends to spill water and/or coffee while pouring)
    • My wife placed the carafe in the dishwasher for initial cleaning and was burned by scalding hot water when she removed it from the dishwasher.
    • The cover is difficult to put on, the thermal carafe is difficult to clean.
    • I do not like this Coffee Maker mainly b/c of the pot
    • excellent A++++
    • The lid is difficult to remove as well as to replace it on the carafe
    • excellent A++++
    • The lid is difficult to remove as well as to replace it on the carafe
