I cleaned and cleaned and then cleaned the lid.

the wider lid on the pot makes cleaning much nicer and the drip catcher on the back prevents the water that accumulates on the lid during brewing from running down the back.

It is a big bulky machine you have to slide out and raise the huge cumbersome lid to put water in

You have to pry the lid off to clean and forget about pouring without spilling

Also it spills everywhere and the lid is clumsy

After using this for a few months (and cleaning it regularly), I discovered the lid had mold in it... there is no way to clean the lid, none.

Occasionally I soak the lid and carafe in a commercial coffee pot cleaner, but recently I read another reviewer's brilliant suggestion to use Oxy-Clean -- better results than with the commercial coffee-pot cleaners.

Only complaint might be that the lid doesn’t go into easily and if you don’t put it on perfectly it leaks

As others have advised, rinse the lid thoroughly and shake it to drain out the water to maintain the coffee drip flow.

Pouring coffee is problematic though, the pot has to be turned upside down to get any coffee to come out, and the lid cannot be cleaned because it doesn't come apart

We finally started removing the lid to pour but then the coffee cools down too fast and defeats the purpose of having a carafe

The timer is simple to program, and the carafe keeps the coffee hot, and it pours without the need to twist a lid

I recommend using something besides the glass carafe it comes with for filling the water reservoir, as the lid of the carafe isn't hinged and doesn't come off and go on very easily, making it a little tedious to fill

The lid has this raised bump in the middle so that when its brewing, it lifts the stopper and allows coffee into the carafe

The carafe lid is difficult to open and close and if you don't do it right, it will cause coffee spills while brewing or pouring-and the worse part-you won't know until its already spilling

they have improved the spout and lid since the last one, the only thing i dislike is the cord is still to short.

Before I started to brew, I filled the carafe with super hot water, closed the lid and let it sit for 2 minutes, dumped the water out (and such a waste of water, btw) so that it would warm the "thermal" carafe.

The best advice I can give on that is to keep the lid clean by running it through the dishwasher when it seems to be sticking
