I would recommend to wash it after each grind as the directions suggest - otherwise it can get gunned with bean residue.

Weekends always finds me serving several drop-in guests wanting a cup of fresh ground and the looks on their faces at first sip makes it all worthwhile

It does a nice fine grind and you can make anything from a couple to a dozen of "cups" (the definition of a cup seems slightly skimpy) at a time.

The ground beans stick to the top of the container, to the bottom of the container, in the chute, and clog the little holes where the ground beans are supposed to enter the chute and fall into the basket

Maybe a finer grind will conserve beans and allow stronger coffee for larger batches

The brew is good and the carafe's heat preservation rocks, but my biggest complaint is how loud the grind and transfer is

Initially I loved the grind and brew feature, but after a period of time, I had to get a pair of pliers to wrestle the grinding basket out for cleaning.

But we've had floods even with coarse ground

The float is captive within the lid, there is no way to remove it or even clean it of coffee residue (also gross).I am guessing that using a paper filter instead of the included wire one or using a more coarsely ground coffee would minimize the sticking, but it's too late for me try that

the grind is much too fine (and not adjustable) so the coffee has very little flavor.
