Cuisinart ICE-100 Compressor Ice Cream and Gelato Maker, Silver, 1-1/2-Quart

    • You can make nice bowls for two people and smallish bowls for three people, but you cannot make enough ice cream for four people.
    • The machine makes just enough ice cream for a small family
    • It makes delicious ice cream with the correct texture, and it's totally hands off
    • It makes absolutely perfect ice cream, gelatos, sorbets, and froyos
    • The great news is you can easily make fantastic ice cream
    • Both cream and eggs work very well on low carb, and I had done a lot of experimentation with natural sugar replacements, so I felt confident that I could come up with a viable recipe for a reasonably desirable alternative to the high carb stuff that's so ruinous to a healthy diet

    • A few of the common concerns: Want SMOOTH ice cream, without crystals?
    • It is quiet and makes wonderful ice cream very quickly
    • Unless you have a blast chiller than can freeze your ice cream very quickly, I recommend not making more than you and your friends intend to eat, which shouldn't be an issue since it also doesn't make that much ice cream (seems like about 1.5 - 2 quarts).Inexpensive little unit for experimenting with flavors, but you probably won't use it as much as you think.
    • So easy to use and make perfect ice cream and gelato and frozen yogurt
    • Win for quality, Win for price and Win for healthy ice cream.
    • If you can get it to work, it makes excellent ice cream, but don’t expect much for reliability.
    • Makes a batch of ice cream in about 40 minutes, the consistency right out of the machine is similar to soft serve, of course you have to freeze it longer if you prefer your ice cream more frozen
    • But we have managed some very nice ice creams in our first 5 attempts, from super rich to some lighter blends with less cream (and calories!)
    • And have unfortunately gained weight from all the readily available ice cream
    • I KNOW I will be moving more in this direction because a. cheaper b. healthier c. still tastes just as good as any other ice cream

    • We have made a dozen or so batches with the machine and it makes great ice cream.
    • I am going to have an excellent summer with sweet and savory ice creams
    • It does not freeze the ice cream to a firm consistency, it's more like soft-serve, you must put it into the freezer to firm up2
    • it is very easy to operate and it is very easy to clean in 50 minutes you have a batch of awesome homemade organic ice cream
    • Makes a very smooth ice cream
    • My biggest issue with that one was that it wouldn't freeze the ice cream quick enough and tended to overchurn the ice cream (giving it a buttery texture which I didn't like). This unit works great - it's not too noisy and takes about 30-40 minutes to make ice cream
    • The result is no better (actually not even as good) as the ice cream I make from the freezer bucket with my standmixer.
    • We love ice cream but the store bought left us feeling pretty yucky
    • This unit makes wonderful soft serve ice cream in 45 to 60 minutes, and freezes will for harder ice cream.
    • With making our own ice cream, we know what it in it, it tastes great and quite frankly, it does not last long in our house (2 teenagers). My only glitch with this item is that the churning to freeze the ice cream causes it to have a slippery texture left on the tongue and a coating on the spoon
    • If you love ice cream then this is the unit to purchase
    • Favorite ice creams has become Orange Cream - mix tang, vanilla soft serve mix or carnation instant breakfast packets, and 1/2 milk & 1/2 heavy whipping cream in blender or shaker bottle.

    • You generally have to freeze the ice cream over-night.
    • Super easy and ice cream comes out great!
    • This machine does what it says it will do --- gets cold, stays that way, and freezes ice cream
    • The ice cream it makes does not get as thick as the old ice and rock salt mixer I had, but it gets thick enough for reasonable homemade ice cream
    • Only disappointment: I wanted to purchase a made in the USA appliance- looked up top three ice cream
    • The built in freezer works like a charm, cranking out excellent ice cream in about 40 minutes.
    • It makes very nice ice cream.
    • It made excellent ice cream but was quite difficult to assemble and was very noisy
    • My only disappointment is that making truly superior ice cream takes a lot of "fiddling" and preparation time I don't readily have.
    • If you're making a recipe that has a higher water content, it will freeze your ice cream to a consistency like that of soft serve - enough that you won't get any ice crystals in your firmly frozen ice cream once it's sat in the freezer over night
    • I have found so far that I enjoy the lower fat content ice creams better, but they tend to have more of an issue with ice crystals
    • On top of that it makes fabulous ice cream.

    • I made a homemade brownie brickle with a salted caramel swirl and candied pecans then added it to a sweet cream ice
    • The one thing that I had always dreaded was the fact that you needed a bag of ice and rock salt to freeze the ice cream
    • When used for the appropriate amount of time (for me 1 quart of ice cream for 35-40 minutes) your ice cream will be more solid and consistent than when using a freezer bowl (still a soft serve consistency) that being said, when I freeze my ice cream I find less ice crystals because the mixture was more frozen in the first place, so less refreezing goes on
    • I'd strongly recommend this machine for anyone wanting fresh, homemade ice cream.
