Wow..... right out of the box I heated up the waffle maker to burn off the new smell and made the family a batch of waffles used 4 1/2 setting and they were a beautiful golden brown and smells wonderful while cooking.

So you have this strange behavior of one waffle coming out extra crispy and dark and the other slightly softer and less browned.
