Reviews around quality (5.00 of 5)

  • I would compare these strings to Thomastik-Infeld strings, which cost twice as much and are NOT a better quality string!
  • It's D'Addario...usual great, dependable quality strings.
  • I immediately noticed a much richer sound quality in my guitar along with a fuller clear sound
  • By far, my favorite is D'Addario for their value and excellent quality

Reviews around balance (5.00 of 5)

  • Tone appears to be very well balanced and enjoy the fuller sound of 12 guage first string
  • I found the half wounds to have a well balanced and clean clear tone, and to be a little more mellow than nickle wound
  • Perfect balance of tone and playability.

Reviews around product (5.00 of 5)

  • They're worth checking out and might be the right product for you even if they weren't for me.
  • But i wanted a little more r&r tone from my Epiphone Casino, a little brighter

Reviews around warmth (5.00 of 5)

  • Just the right brightness when i play bridge pickup with a little slap-back delay for rockabilly, nice warmth playing neck&bridge pickups for rythm and lead blues and rock
  • I like the warmth a deeper jazz tone of flat wounds
  • But i wanted a little more r&r tone from my Epiphone Casino, a little brighter

Reviews around light (5.00 of 5)

  • These are D'Addario Super Light
  • was a big mistake on my part because I never read the product description, but I think it would be good to correct the photo of the Extra-Super Light, since these are 008 and not 010 as it appears there
  • The D'Addario half-round jazz light strings sustain well, are available a a good price (considering that half-rounds generally are more expensive), and have a nice even tone.

Reviews around steel (5.00 of 5)

  • Stainless steel half-rounds Light
  • I can't comment on longevity since I haven't had them long enough, but I will say that they are stainless steel, so rusting should not be a problem
  • The fact that these are stainless steel wrapping on a hex core make me nervous because my frets are nickel/silver which is much softer

Reviews around rock (5.00 of 5)

  • I use these on my Archtop for Jazz, Blues, Country, & Classic rock.
  • But i wanted a little more r&r tone from my Epiphone Casino, a little brighter
  • Just the right brightness when i play bridge pickup with a little slap-back delay for rockabilly, nice warmth playing neck&bridge pickups for rythm and lead blues and rock
  • This is a good string for classic rock, new wave, jazz, and country music

Reviews around feel (4.49 of 5)

  • It tries to give you the sound of a round-wound with the smooth feel of a flat-wound
  • Strange feeling and not the silky feel I hoped to find.
  • They are also kind of expensive, so if you like the feel of your roundwounds, stick with them, as these have nothing to offer you
  • But if you like the feel of flatwounds and the tone of roundwounds, these are a good string to try
  • These strings have a nice smooth feel to them while sounding awesome

Reviews around wind (4.03 of 5)

  • I only use these to take the place of an unwanted wound g string (I play chrome 11s for my E A D B and e)
  • That said, these strings sound just as good as round-wound strings and have a bit of that flat-wound feel
  • Part of the reason that I switched to pure nickel wound strings is that they are easier on the frets
  • I have put them on my Starfire as I've never been quite satisfied with the brighter round wound sound on it
  • The Gibson had nice flat wound strings that were very smooth and quiet, but they were too

Reviews around price (3.86 of 5)

  • Very easily rivals other more expensive strings at a cheap price.
  • But i wanted a little more r&r tone from my Epiphone Casino, a little brighter
  • Did not like the price, but liked the idea of the first string (12)and the guages of the others were a little less heavier than the daddario flats
  • The D'Addario half-round jazz light strings sustain well, are available a a good price (considering that half-rounds generally are more expensive), and have a nice even tone.
  • Love these strings , wont buy anything else.fast ship, great price here.

Reviews around guitar (3.68 of 5)

  • Great for ES-semi hollow or hollow bodied guitars
  • I use them on a cheaper guitar I have when my hands ache or my finger tips are sore.
  • I have two fine guitars: a 1992 Fender Strat Deluxe Plus and a 1995 Gibson
  • But i wanted a little more r&r tone from my Epiphone Casino, a little brighter

Reviews around string noise (1.35 of 5)

  • With regular wound strings, if you need to press down with X number of pounds of pressure to fret a chord, you'll need maybe 1.5X or more pounds of pressure to be able to fret and slide the chord without generating audible string noise
  • Cuts out a lot of the string noise that round wound strings tend to have
  • much less tension than flatwounds and wiithout the string noise of roundwounds, though still not as bright as rounds
  • But with these half round strings, you can do the chord slide with maybe 1.1X to 1.2 pounds of pressure and not hear string noise (you'd tend to increase the pressure a little on slides to help maintain sustain during the slide)
  • But i wanted a little more r&r tone from my Epiphone Casino, a little brighter
