Our old Danby from 2004 was an 18" portable and sounded like a thunderstorm

The dishes came out steamy hot and clean as can be

Unfortunately it did not work as it had an internal leak and had to be returned

Mostly you can hear when the water is draining as it is coming out at high pressure
