The trick is to lightly grease the maker and only use about 1/4 cup of batter (also works great with shredded potatoes and shredded zucchini).

But if you're looking for the best all round waffle maker i'd go with the KRUPS.

The instructions do explain how to clean the Mini Maker, but I didn't have any success with their method, so instead I sprayed the caked-on batter with cleaning spray and let it sit for a while, then gently scrubbed with a sponge and hot water with Dawn dish soap, being very careful not to get any water into the back section with the plug
