After working for days with various hardware and software that claimed to be "the solution" for extracting and working with files from a Sony Handycam super 8 formatted tape, I finally came across the Dazzle Converter

Keep the cables connected if you do buy the Dazzle converter.

The video captured with Debut is much cleaner with crisp blacks and good color tone.

The Dazzle video capture device uses a program named Pinnacle Studio for Dazzle to manage

Video capture appeared more grainy than expected for video capture from a Hi8 camera via S-video input.

Like the previous iterations of the Dazzle video capture device, this one performed well, with but one exception - although all of Pinnacle's literature indicates that this device will interface with the later versions of Pinnacle Studio (in this instance Studio 16), I was never able, even with help from Pinnacle Support, to get Studio 16 to recognize the Dazzle device.

To be honest the 'newer' Dazzle video capturing devices are just re-distributed hardware and software from when they first hit the market

The interface works flawlessly; nothing else to add about the hardware in this set-up and probably worth the fifty bucks alone

However even this was not enough to make the Dazzle software work

I wasted so much time finding drivers and trying to make this work with windows 10 and so far no luck.

Fortunately, with the Dazzle device comes a special version of Studio (Studio for Dazzle), and this did indeed work with the device, so that video could be captured from my 8mm camcorder.

I also wish Pinnacle provided the option to purchase the unit without the stripped-down version of Pinnacle Studio as I have the full version and would have liked to save a few $$$ on the unnecessary software.

Corel will not support my Dazzle product because when I called them for an update, they wanted me to buy their latest product and that they no longer supported my Dazzle

If you have a Windows XP system, this thing works like a charm

The one thing that I didn't like was at the very bottom of the screen it is a tad bit blurry with a small line running through each video

After installing the patch, the Dazzle device and the Pinnacle program works as advertised.

It worked so I deleted it and then did the transfer - Only negative is you have to watch entire video you are dubbing in REAL TIME which can take a long time but my videos were mostly under 30 minutes.

Not only that but the miniDV and D8 camcorder analog to digital video conversion doesn't added unnatural enhancements for black, white, color, and hue during the processing and conversion unlike this Dazzle device

i think they added some annoying enhancements like black level enhancer and possibly white level enhancer that darken dark area and whiten white area that it gives it a black and white crush.

but i try to overlook the annoying video enhancements that can't be turn off, and me being
