A great investment for those needing retina style monitor at a very good price point.
This is the 3rd Dell monitor I’ve had and the price is very reasonable
Especially for a 4k monitor, the price is actually not that unreasonable
Still hands down the best 4K monitor for designers/photographers and for a reasonable price
it does not wake up from the sleep!I would recommend to buy something else (considering the hefty price tag) or wait for another improved model, that has this issue fixed
Many of the negative comments are that the monitor loses resolution when it goes to sleep so desktop icons have to be constantly rearranged when it wakes
You do lose resolution with the daisy chaining, I've considered getting a mini display port splitter to eliminate
The screen is reasonably bright, colors are pretty good and the resolution is great, but not as bright or as great as other displays on the market
Also if you don't have a 4K source, don't bother because the resolution doesn't look that good.
Just grab a thunderbolt to thunderbolt so you can take advantage of the amazing resolution.
The monitor is very well made and has an outstanding picture quality
On the plus side, the quality is good (not outstanding like my 5K
it is incredible that being Dell such a reputable company one has to suffer the bad quality of their product and to top it up, their service is totally unresponsive
P)This monitor has really great image quality and extremely high pixel density
For some unknown reason, Dell is supplying a poor quality DisplayPort cable
I will certainly not be purchasing any more of their products, not because their products are inherently substandard or bad, but because they are such a pain to work with when something goes wrong with one of their products.
Not doing that makes the unit a defective product (even thought not severely defective). If not because of the one problem/defect, I would have given it a five star rating
they are a decent product at a reasonable price for 2160p/60hz at
Dell makes a solid product when it comes to monitors, solid build, nice features and good image quality overall
Well, it is fascinating how great technology and bad quality testing can result in such great and, at the same time, terrible product
Especially when browsing the web, where everything is on white background; quite often the small text in gray color is difficult to read, so you have to increase scaling in Windows 10 or in browser, which makes high resolution less useful
Oh, while I think about it, one of the things that people should know about 4K monitors, everything's really small, text is very hard to read and I find that I have to set the monitor to a setting lower than
Text is crisp with a caveat (discussed in next paragraph)
According to me the text isn't quite as crisp as the actual
and so I was worried that at such a high resolution I would have trouble reading text that was too small
Most graphics cards currently do not support the 4K, while this is changing, it does make the technology less appealing for some.
Great monitor for productivity, has some compatibility issues with Hackintosh though-waking from sleep occasionally this thing will freeze and needs to be unplugged, but if you're aware of that issue you can just turn it off and back on before it happens.
I was hesitant to purchase this monitor for use with a 2013 Mac Pro due to the other reviews of issues waking from sleep on Macs
I run it in 2k mode (as I planned) because in 4k mode everything is too tiny of course, but in 2k mode I get extremely sharp text, almost as sharp as on an Apple retina display
Love the 4K, wow nice picture for a desk top, easier on the eyes as great definition
Just as good as my 2015 Retina MB Pro screen, and if it's not the same, my eye cannot detect any difference
Excuse me, I bought this from B&H (sorry amazon), from NYC, Dell, USA
Until the mix of computer hardware and display-connector interfaces out there support 4k across the board, expect to face some serious compatibility issues getting this monitor to work at its full native resolution and refresh rate
Text is as crisp as on the Macbook Pro's built-in screen and color saturation looks more or less same to me

This monitor may not suffice the needs of professional graphic designers or photographers or even video editors, but for someone like me its just perfect
The monitor has a USB hub built into it, so it negated the need for me to have a port replicator (for external HD, CD drive, mouse/keyboard, phone,
Especially if you're using a Mac, the need to use such an awkward menu and setting control is weird
This monitor may not suffice the needs of professional graphic designers or photographers or even video editors, but for someone like me its just perfect
Excellent, just what I needed to replace a Dell monitor that died after "only" 9.5 years of solid performance
whenever there's a problem with the internet or cable, unplug it, replug it, and it luckily works
This can be caused by using fullscreen apps like youtube, so if you love fullscreen youtube vids, this may be a problem
They have no ability to diagnose an intermittent problem.
I have a 2yr old Alienware 14" with Win7pro, i7 processor, 16gbRAM, GeForce GT650M dedicated graphics which supports the 3840x2160 digital resolution, and also has the display
Next problem, 4k on computer displays is complex and I wouldn't expect much
Just as good as my 2015 Retina MB Pro screen, and if it's not the same, my eye cannot detect any difference
I've spoken with the company that makes the DP chip and they fixed the issue but firmware updates for monitors in the field are not available
Text is as crisp as on the Macbook Pro's built-in screen and color saturation looks more or less same to me
It is not as sharp and contrasty as my other 27" IPS monitor (2560x1440) but that is mainly due to the antigloss coating, which was expected
I'm suspicious this is also why I have the problem above: my guess is that the monitor just never finishes properly waking up so the power button is locked out by the stupid firmware
If it's at 30 the mouse can look like it's kind of glitchy or lagging behind a little bit
The Monitor does shake a bit when you are typing on the desk
Even at 100 brightness it doesn't wash out the brightest parts of the image being displayed on the screen, it simply turns the backlight up.$500 is a lot of money for a monitor, but I can say that I don't regret it one bit.
The stand could be a little more sturdy as the monitor shakes a bit on my desk (might be my desk, but the iMac is super steady; 1-star removed).
But the plus side of that is I am super happy with this new monitor that sold me on its advertised image quality and did not disappoint me one bit
There is not so much of a difference between this monitor's resolution and that of the 5K iMac as to cause eye strain
It is not as sharp and contrasty as my other 27" IPS monitor (2560x1440) but that is mainly due to the antigloss coating, which was expected
Text is as crisp as on the Macbook Pro's built-in screen and color saturation looks more or less same to me
and I can simply adjust the editor font size to mitigate eye strain
I had an ASUS MX279h and that monitor, while also a great monitor, was giving me too much eye strain and was just too bright in general, no matter what I did
I run it in 2k mode (as I planned) because in 4k mode everything is too tiny of course, but in 2k mode I get extremely sharp text, almost as sharp as on an Apple retina display
The back of the display also has an awkward plastic covering that you snap on, but it's not something you'll want to monkey with on a regular basis
All the money went into the pixels in front of you, and everything else is made of as cheap a plastic as they could manage
Also, the back of the display is just a big black light-sucking plastic rectangle
I like the textured matte of this monitor far more than the shiny cheap looking plastic of my ASUS monitors
Just as good as my 2015 Retina MB Pro screen, and if it's not the same, my eye cannot detect any difference
If you can't comfortably look at your monitor, who cares if it has negative input lag and response time or whatever it is that you're looking for in a monitor! One last tidbit, if you have a old Macbook
Don't worry about the 5ms input lag this monitor has in fast response mode, it feels lightning quick.
It is not as sharp and contrasty as my other 27" IPS monitor (2560x1440) but that is mainly due to the antigloss coating, which was expected
(Compared to other IPS panel such as DELL U2412M, which only has an input lag of 17ms according to AnandTech)Conclusion:If you are a FPS gamer/photographer/graphic designer, you need to stay away from this monitor.
This monitor does everything the thunderbolt display does when it is hooked up via thunderbolt and the other USB chord that comes with the monitor - I can plug in external hard drives, my iPhone, camera cards, wireless ports, and other devices and they all read with a USB 3.0 speed to my
Text looks almost as good as e-ink on a Kindle
Very nice to only have to input one USB to the computer and monitor and be able to plug in a hard drive, printer, and another USB instead of all separately to the computer while docking
and I have 1 USB yet to connect a hard drive or any other stick
The setup works fine as long as the MBP 13" drives both monitors from its Thunderbolt ports
But there is one annoying problem: the power button doesn't work right
The power button is useless when that happens, and I need to unplug and re-plug to display to fix the issue.
Excuse me, I bought this from B&H (sorry amazon), from NYC, Dell, USA
Once, the monitor got stuck in a weird "sleep mode" loop, where the power button and OSD buttons were entirely unresponsive, and the only solution was to unplug the power cable
