Slick looking, just a dial to change the texture, another dial to change the cup size, it works great.
It's not terribly noisy (any electric grinder will be loud), it's not messy as some reviews said, and as an extra bonus, it's a nice looking little machine
My criteria were Burr wheel, reasonable price, compact size, clean looks, easy to use
I like the look and ease of use but wished it would grind finer for espresso.
does a great job grinding without creating a mess and has a great modern look.
just right, I find this is the best low price grinder I have had yet
This burr grinder is the right price, it looks very nice, it works very well.
My two upgrade wishes would be a true anti-static plastic container (it makes a static-e mess at times) and being able to get a finer grind for espresso

A vastly superior grinder to many that I have purchased - well worth the price.
The difference in grind was also noticeable in the quality of the crema on the shots produced from each grinder (using same beans).Disappointed that I'll have to leap for a more expensive burr grinder for espresso, but I'll be keeping this DeLonghi on hand as it does produce a consistent coarse grind that's good for other brew methods.
From the reviews, I'm not sure there IS a decent burr grinder out there other than manual
Cheapest burr grinder I could find, but she's still cranking away.
All in all, a great burr grinder, it's just really really messy.
Grab my coffee bean container, open it, pick up and invert the coffee grinder pouring all the coffee beans (and some partially ground ones, back into the coffee bean jar, watch the burring grinding wheel fall out and into the coffee jar.
one year and six month of use in a single person house hold making no more then 2 cup on the busiest day this machine had and the motor burned up...it bogged down while i was out of the room and just quit since it was past
The cup into which the grind is dispensed is cracking along the top seam for absolutely no good reason--I'm gentle with my kitchen stuff
I have one other DeLonghi appliance, a 60 cup coffee maker that I LIKE
Because it can grind 12 cups, because it was easy to adjust grinds
I like my coffee from an the Bialetti Moka Express or if i am really honing in for a perfect cup I will use an Aeropress
Does grind fairly consistent grounds and operation is straight forward
The grounds are very inconsistent and don't look much better than a blade grinder
I now use a Shark or computer vac, but while it does remove unwanted grounds in the machine, it is a major hassle
(you will not get coarse or fine grounds from this)Difficult to clean
Because it means that every time you grind, you are going to end up with a mess as fine grounds that have become trapped behind the bin are spilled all over your counter
poorly designed, messy, if the lid isn't just right it shuts off really not a convenient quick little grinder
Pros, compared to the Cuisinart: quieter operation; better contained bin; better range of grinds (coarse is coarser, albeit with fine grounds included); more compact design; smoke-colored plastic so the clinging grinds aren't as visible; slightly shorter grind time; emptying grounds is not quite as messy
My husband already gets grinds everywhere, but the design made it ten times worse
The static problem, coupled with the strange hopper/chute design means that you'll end up wiping your counters every day after use and every other time you walk by.
There is critical design flaw with this grinder in that it shuts down if everything is not completely clean on the safety sensors.
Google "delonghi burr grinder hack" and you'll find out that the most fine setting is not fine enough for espresso
If you want a coarse grind for a french press you may be disappointed, the coarse setting is still finer than I would typically use for french press coffee.
It seems that the coarse setting grinds the coffee about as fine as the finer settings which was a surprise to me.
Does not grind evenly, I get plenty of little coffee particles even in the coarse setting
Even the setting for a coarse grind on this grinder is pretty fine, the fine grind setting is very fine and could be used easily for espresso machines.
Second, the container for the grounds is just plain messy
My two upgrade wishes would be a true anti-static plastic container (it makes a static-e mess at times) and being able to get a finer grind for espresso
That bottom container isn't the most durable, either.

Replace the hopper lid and the ground coffee container, push the
I got so frustrated with the ground coffee accumulation that I bought a cheap plastic tray to sit my coffee grinder and coffee maker in, just to contain the ground coffee accumulation within the tray.
My two upgrade wishes would be a true anti-static plastic container (it makes a static-e mess at times) and being able to get a finer grind for espresso
I wish the big manufacturers would look to go back to the old way and use glass or find another static-free plastic for kitchen devices or maybe even the hard resins like the cheaper watch crystals.
First month the handle on the brew basket broke, made of hollow plastic and simply split down the middle
The grinder hopper is plastic, which doesn't really seem like a big deal, until you grind for the first time.
My two upgrade wishes would be a true anti-static plastic container (it makes a static-e mess at times) and being able to get a finer grind for espresso
My two upgrade wishes would be a true anti-static plastic container (it makes a static-e mess at times) and being able to get a finer grind for espresso
So while this will give you a passable espresso grind, it will also give you some headaches and a nice mess every time you use it
We were using coarse grind on a daily basis, with occasional changes to espresso grind
The espresso grind is the setting we both use most & it is evenly and perfectly grinded every time.
Due to the excessive 'safety' features, you cannot get into the machine to clean out the oily coffee dust residue clogging things
There will always be traces of old coffee dust which are impossible to remove from the internals of the DeLonghi, which would be OK if it were the only issue, but I certainly do prefer having a completely clean machine
And unlike purchased ground coffee there is a fair share of coffee dust
Due to the overly powerful motor that does not SHAVE the beans, but decimates them, creating all the coffee dust, this machine CLOGS
You end up with coffee dust on your counters, and stuck to the sides and lid of the collection box
I hate to do that, but I'm frustrated by how frequently is doesn't work as it should
The only criticism is that the receptacle for the grounds is very static-y and hard to get all the grounds out of.
At first this thing was amazing, but I am disappointed it lasted me exactly 3 years and then crapped out
My two upgrade wishes would be a true anti-static plastic container (it makes a static-e mess at times) and being able to get a finer grind for espresso
In this era of planned obsolescence, 4 1/2 years for $53 isn't too bad
