De'Longhi KG89 Burr Coffee Grinder with Grind Selector and Quantity Control

    • Due to the excessive 'safety' features, you cannot get into the machine to clean out the oily coffee dust residue clogging things
    • found our counters stay coffee-dust free by simply tap-tap-tapping the coffee receptacle on the counter once we've removed it from thegrinder, lifting off the lid & tapping
    • At best, you can remove the feed protector, and with a bamboo kebab skewer, poke and prod a VERY tiny area, and get some of the now caked coffee dust residue out of the small exit area that goes into the collector bin
    • After about 2 months, the inside of the collection box loses a bit of it's suface finish from the ground coffee and coffee dust striking it, so the dust stops going all over your counters, but the dust builds up in the collection box terribly
    • You end up with coffee dust on your counters, and stuck to the sides and lid of the collection box
    • And unlike purchased ground coffee there is a fair share of coffee dust
    • Only had one occasion where it stopped working, and when I pulled out the black thing in the middle of the place where the beans go and cleaned all of the coffee dust off of all of the parts, it worked again perfectly
    • But I have to live in my kitchen after I've had my coffee, and this thing just poops coffee dust everywhere: upon removing the receptacle from the grinder; taking the lid off the receptacle; dumping it into the coffee maker
    • There will always be traces of old coffee dust which are impossible to remove from the internals of the DeLonghi, which would be OK if it were the only issue, but I certainly do prefer having a completely clean machine
    • Due to the overly powerful motor that does not SHAVE the beans, but decimates them, creating all the coffee dust, this machine CLOGS
    • My two upgrade wishes would be a true anti-static plastic container (it makes a static-e mess at times) and being able to get a finer grind for espresso
