I'm not a trumpet expert, but the sound quality of this mute seems fine to me, and when fully closed, I can play quietly enough that the upstairs neighbors don't complain.
The Dennis Wick mute is of excellent quality and has great tonal performance
It provided a nice sound quality, thus I did not know that it could also turn into a straight mute and I was AMAZED!!!

Since I live in an apartment, having a good practice mute is important
And, if this is not enough, with the cup moved all the wa down to touch the trumpet bell, this mute is also a great quiet practice mute
.. now if you could only make a decent practice mute as good as this cup mute, that would be wonderful
Push the ring all the way to the bell and, in my opinion, this is a superior practice mute

There are other more expensive mutes out there, but I feel this one is just as good and is available at a good price on Amazon.
It's a well made straight mute and the price was very competitive.
It is a great mute at great price, which equals a great value!
Wood straight mutes are expensive, but this is the best priced one

The sound is what you'd expect and the intonation is wonderful.
I also noted that the amount of air resistance was tiring, and intonation was dubious in both lower and upper registers.
