I don't know how it was with other z-wave systems, but with my Samsung Smart Things, it was a huge, unforgiving, pain in the butt to set this as a chime with my motion sensors and door sensors.
I am using it with Smart Things and the official Smart Things device handler
Not immediately obvious how you would change the different sounds using Smart Things--instructions given for other systems.

To get the full functionality with SmartThings, you need to use the available custom device handler
It also has a very good "official" device handler for SmartThings meaning good support which is another reason I chose this one over some of the others.
so i would definitely say it's not a cheap-o z-wave device.
After digging deeper, I found that Samsung Smartthings does not support this device and I never could get the new smartthings software to pair with it.
Works great, just don't forget to install the correct device handler!
Also they just did an update a few days ago for the Z-wave plugin with better support for Dome devices

Looks like Wink just pushed (8/10/17) support for chimes.

, have it both as a "chime" for Events in Homeseer, as well as a siren
when I leave the door open when I set the night mode I set another tone and for intruder alert I can set as loud siren, etc which give me lots of flexibility to use the same siren for multiple purpose.5
The siren is not very loud at all and the speaker sounds distorted whenever playing the siren or chime sounds.
It also doesn't get as loud as a siren you'd hear at a school when there is a fire drill
So when it comes to incorporating it into the security system it will not show as a siren or activate/deactivate like one
