  • Donkey Kong Country was a game that proved that you don't need CD-based technology to make games with flashy graphics
  • In a world where there were CDs, companies like Sega and 3DO had tried to capitalize on the concept of playing video games on a CD, giving the games enhanced graphics and sound
  • Cranky Kong claims that the game only sold well because of the game's "fancy graphics" and that "kids would buy anything these days"

Reviews around water stage (5.00 of 5)

  • I'm actually really surprised that the water stages, for example, are significantly more fun here than they are in the DKC series.
  • It seems like the water stages were more thought out in this game
  • The stage where a squid is chasing you through a deep underwater maze is definitely really creepy (because he never STOPS chasing you) but more importantly these water stages are really exciting (and challenging).

Reviews around nintendo (5.00 of 5)

  • Donkey Kong and Diddy don't handle exactly like they do on the Super Nintendo
  • These levels are home to a rather significant difficulty spike and while it's kind of welcome (since the Donkey Kong Country on the Super Nintendo is ridiculously easy) it puts an obvious strain on the experience
  • One of Donkey Kong Land's greatest strengths is while it contains the same gameplay as the Super Nintendo games, the level design is not directly ripped from those titles

Reviews around gameboy (5.00 of 5)

  • Yes, it's hard to see on a old gameboy screen but that's why it has the "Super Gameboy logo" on it
  • Great old gameboy game
