Reviews around axe (4.84 of 5)

  • Reminds the old days when I was playing games like Golden Axe, Final Fight, Dinosaurs and Cadillac, etc
  • First off I like to say that I'm in love with old school games and this game pays homage to games like Golden Axe and Capcom's Arcade D&D games
  • I could describe Dragon's Crown as a mixture of the games GOLDEN AXE & DIABLO
  • It's like a mix of Golden Axe and Diablo 2 (the TRUE Diablo).
  • I get the feeling that this game was created by Golden Axe fanboys, almost as a joke- until someone realized that they could make money off of it by putting in a ton of repetitive side quests

Reviews around rpg (4.66 of 5)

  • The RPG elements (which basically boils down to the ability to level skills in order to play to your strengths) are perfunctory, but hardly amaze
  • Being reminded of my table top RPG days was powerfully nostalgic for me, and it really made me love the story in this game
  • I recommend this game to everybody looking for a great action RPG.
  • It has great RPG mechanics and it's fun to play with friends
  • If you're a fan of classical, epic high fantasy, artistic games that leave you stunned by their design, action games that have intelligent RPG designs, or just addictive beat-em-ups to play alone or with friends, then Dragon's Crown is the game for you

Reviews around art (4.57 of 5)

  • I like:- gorgeous art and character design- shared loot storage among each character- snappy action and cool abilities- multiplayer fun, with companions to fill the gaps when friends aren't around- character selection covers all of the bases from classic fantasy (elf ranger, human knight, wild barbarian, etc
  • Beautiful art/ graphics both for the back ground and for the characters
  • Endlessly fun, great music, wondrous art, and very addicting
  • My complaint is actually the art
  • Beautiful art design, unique characters, and a great loot system

Reviews around gameplay (4.53 of 5)

  • This game reminds me of the old classic side scrolling games of the past when i used to visit arcades, it has great graphics and addictive gameplay
  • 2D graphic design is great and the gameplay is funny
  • The story is decent, the characters are memorable, and the gameplay is fun
  • Gameplay had some serious stumbles
  • Decent story, AMAZING VISUALS, great gameplay and music too

Reviews around graphic (4.37 of 5)

  • this game is a lot of fun,the graphics are gorgeous and the co op is a nice addition .
  • This is a beautiful fantasy themed beat em up with some of the most gorgeous graphics I've ever seen
  • The graphics here are pathetic
  • The graphics are absolutely gorgeous, and maybe the strongest part of the game
  • So you go on and on, marveling at the insanely beautiful graphics

Reviews around story (4.33 of 5)

  • I like the style and story but didn't like the 2D characters.
  • The story itself isn't especially memorable or unique
  • Decent story, AMAZING VISUALS, great gameplay and music too

Reviews around design (4.30 of 5)

  • Whether you love/hate the character design, the game is simply fun and a good way to kill a few hours
  • Beautiful art design, unique characters, and a great loot system
  • There are so many thoughtful design choices that went into the online multiplayer in this game, and it works very smoothly, for the most part
  • This game is a testament to what comprehensive, careful design and a love for a genre can truly create
  • The PS3 version is best if you want to be able to enjoy the art design to its fullest detail, and it's better for multiplayer to have a bigger screen

Reviews around boss (4.18 of 5)

  • There's not enough epic boss fights these days but this game delivers
  • Eventually you can unlock an endless dungeon that randomizes boss encounters, good fun and a good challenge
  • Plus the bosses are fun and enjoyable to slay a second time
  • Simply put, Dragons Crown is a level grinding beat 'em up game in which you complete the same 9 levels over and over and over again until you are strong enough to beat each of the level bosses and eventually destroy the final boss.
  • If you fail to beat the boss in time (because you simply aren't strong enough at your current level), the boss "escapes" and you have to come back another time

Reviews around style (3.75 of 5)

  • I love the games art style, and the old-school beat em up gameplay
  • The over-exaggerated style in all aspects (terrible to some, awesome to many others
  • I personally find it amusing however, I've showed this game to several people and all of them commented on the hyper sexual art style either negatively or shocked
  • The way he delivers the lines, as well as the style in which he phrases the story's events definitely lends a MAJOR table top RPG vibe to the game, as if he's the
  • A fun 2d side scrolling beat'em up with an addictive diablo style loot system.

Reviews around character (3.65 of 5)

  • The characters available are all visually, and mechanically, distinct
  • My character, along with 3 allies, and the various enemies is far too many characters on the screen at one time
  • Combat can be fun, but extremely frustrating/frenetic (too much happening on-screen at one time) so characters often get 'lost in the fray' so you don't know where you are or what you're swinging at
  • Lots of great drawings that show off the colorful characters in the game.
  • I like the style and story but didn't like the 2D characters.

Reviews around dragon (3.64 of 5)

  • Dragon's Crown is a real gem and should be on every PS3 owner's shopping list.
  • Before I ever even ripped the cellophane wrap off of the package, I knew I was going to love Dragon's Crown
  • Dragon's Crown is incredibly attractive and I often stopped to stare at the beautiful surroundings
  • Dragon's Crown really feels like the next step forward in side scrolling beat 'em ups like The Punisher, the Capcom Dungeons and Dragons-games, Knights of the Round, Castle Crashers and so on
  • Dragon's Crown is a fun, unique twist on the genre with a surprising amount of depth.

Reviews around play (3.34 of 5)

  • I think local multiplayer with a group of friends would certainly improve the play
  • i love the dang gosh damn game play and stuff about the story and love the book they sent me
  • Your character is easily lost amidst the numerous on screen enemies and simultaneous attack sequences, which often makes for difficult playing
  • I took off a star because it gets a little repetitive playing the same levels over again.
  • I picked up Dragons Crown to play with my wife at home because she loves playing co-operative games and doesn't like the challenge that comes with matching her gaming skill with mine

Reviews around screen (1.80 of 5)

  • You tend to get lost in the battle especially if a Wizard casts a flame spell that engulfs the whole screen
  • the co op experience is less than ideal b/c you cannot use the character you created for your campaign in someone else's quest
  • But this game is packed with quests, random loot, amazing dungeons and screen-filling boss encounters
  • I found myself just pressing the attack button over and over, without knowing where I was on the damn screen
  • inconsistency while playing online (sudden disconnections can get you back to town without getting to the spoils/experience screen and can ruin a long-run game).

Reviews around track (1.69 of 5)

  • However, the smaller Vita screen does make it easy to lose track of what's happening and where your character is among all the mayhem
  • the co op experience is less than ideal b/c you cannot use the character you created for your campaign in someone else's quest
  • Makers of the game have a great track record and didn't disappoint with this Side scrolling/RPG/beat em up game.
  • The whole game is nicely made; although the combat is messy at times, and you loose track of where you are, especially when you have 4 more companions and the enemies on screen
  • The OLED screen makes a pretty game even prettier, but it's also small, so losing track of your character is going to happen

Reviews around difficulty (1.38 of 5)

  • My only other complaint is the difficulty spike after your first playthru
  • Then we beat the game last night and I see Amaru the lvl 25 fighter can now change difficulty to Hard...woohooo right
  • The jump is also present when going to "infernal" difficulty (though not as severe)
  • while they hamstrung me a bit on higher difficulties, I had saved enough SP to alter my playstyle for the two bosses for which button mashing didn't work (the dragon on Infernal difficulty, and the Demon Lord). The gameplay is standard side-scrolling beat-em-up nonsense, but here is where the problems begin
  • Once you do all this and beat the final boss you unlock Hard then Infernal difficulties

Reviews around target system (1.00 of 5)

  • Not much on the side of customization (zero to none actually), when character building or playing through; very slow movement speed; no targetting system (none); minimal to no combos; linear to the tenth power; repetitive, repetitive, repetitive.
