Dwight Yoakam - Dwightyoakamacoustic.Net - Cd
Amazon.com
Over the course of his career, Dwight Yoakam has both relished and leveraged his "outsider" image. From his earliest days sharing stages with Los Angeles pun...
Keep up the good work Dwight and don't forget your Northern Ireland fans.
Heartfelt, emotional vocals, and pretty darn good work on the acoustic guitar.
I don't know where Dwight will go from here as this is without doubt his best work to date.
You can appreciate his nuanced phrasing and deft guitar work
You will really enjoy this wonderful collection of songs with just Dwight Yoakam's distinctively beautiful, crystal clear voice and his exceptionally skillful work making music with his acoustic guitar
Having only been a Dwight fan for a few years and lucky enough to have seen him live..this is the closest, next best thing, perhaps even a little better.
Nelson and Yoakum are driven to do creative things like this with their music...and then on the other hand, later this year we'll get yet another record from George Strait that sounds like the last 8 records he's made.
The most wonderful thing about this album is that it makes you believe that he would prefer to sing to a few true believers rather than a stadium full of automatons
Have bought a lot of stuff from Amazon, this CD, is one of the best things I have purchased here.
The next best thing would be to have Dwight himself sitting on my porch with his guitar singing to me personnaly
I'm new to Dwight's music and still enjoy the fully loaded versions, but this CD just rises above that honky-tonkin mood.
, a few versions have become my favorites: Bury Me, Buenas Noches From a Lonely Room
All the compositions except "Little Sister" were written or co-written by Dwight, and appeared on other releases with a full band, but I prefer these versions.
The original version might be sad, but its acoustic counterpart is downright devastating."Home for Sale" is probably the saddest song on the entire album
There is an abundance of Dwight's greatest hits on this album, including outstanding versions of Guitars Cadillac's and Buenos noches from a lonely room
Sure, we can criticize Dwight for putting out another "rehash" and buying time until his next "real" album, but when it sounds this good, who's complaining?
Great stuff, but my boyfriend (who also likes Dwight) does not like it because he says some of the notes Dwight hits actually hurts his ears.
The acoustic Dwight proves his talent as an ARTIST, singer and performer.
While I like Dwight and his band, I LOVE Dwight with just his guitar.
If you like dwight and acoustic guitar music then your prayers have been answered!!!I hate to admit it,but i didn't even know this cd existed until about a week ago,now all i can say is WHOA!!!!!This is the crucial-must-own cd of the decade
It's fine country music, stripped back and spare - only his fine honky-tonk singing and rythmic guitar carrying the songs along with integrity
It feels like he's sitting on your back porch, singing and playing, with that pure country voice of his-that might break into a yodel at anytime
A great country voice and acoustic guitar, plus 25 of Dwight's best (all written by him except for one) - an awesome recording!
If you like pure vocals, a good guitar, as only instrument, and really good COUNTRY music, this is the CD for you!
Putting Dwight Yoakam's songs in this stripped-down contect is a mindblower, because it turns out he has written a ton of damn good country tunes over the years
The original version might be sad, but its acoustic counterpart is downright devastating."Home for Sale" is probably the saddest song on the entire album
Don't get me wrong, I have always thought the music of Dwight's band has been a great asset to his recordings and I still love these same songs with the full musical arrangements.
I have always liked his music, but I've always thought he is better with slow songs and, sometimes, his music is overpowering.
Great songs like "Things Change" and "Guitars, Cadillacs, etc..." are presented in a way that his voice sounds even more incredible than it is on the original versions
Dwight Yoakam will be remembered as one of the great song writers of our time
all yer fav-o-right tunes, just DY and a guitar - a different take on things, that's all
Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room brings mariachis to mind, and Lonesome
all yer fav-o-right tunes, just DY and a guitar - a different take on things, that's all

Dwight Yoakam - Dwightyoakamacoustic.Net - Cd
Amazon.com
Over the course of his career, Dwight Yoakam has both relished and leveraged his "outsider" image
From his earliest days sharing stages with Los Angeles punk bands to his rejection of Nashville's hit machine, Yoakam's career has been smart, quirky, and hip, even as his music looked back to the glories of Buck Owens's Bakersfield sound
Through it all, of course, Yoakam's music has rarely faltered and his natural abilities are often stunning
On Dwightyoakamacoustic.net, a run through Yoakam's greatest hits featuring just acoustic guitar and voice, the only misstep is the cheesy title
Throughout these 25 songs (most of which you know by heart), Yoakam uses the intimacy of the unplugged format to offer new insights into his music
Here, the sad parts are sadder, the sly parts are more mischievous, and the dusty swagger seems even more charming
But it's Yoakam's raw talent and enthusiasm that steals this show
His guitar playing sparkles: from the intricate fills on "I'll Be Gone" to the straightahead stomp of "Nothing's Changed Here," Yoakam proves he knows his way around a six-stringer
And with only that guitar standing between his voice and your ears, these tunes go down easier than free beer
From the Elvislike vamping on "It Only Hurts When I Cry" to his barstool lament on "It Won't Hurt," Yoakam growls, begs, and croons with enough conviction to make this stripped-down collection absolutely essential
