From all the negative reviews i saw all you need is enough space
If you don't have enough space, ignore that and adjust it down so you can see yourself when lying down (don't do it too much - it probably still needs to see your head for jumping).
This is probably the biggest shortcoming of most Kinect games at the moment, and that is that the space to the sides (as you face the sensor) is usually enough, but you need more space at the back
For EA Sports Active to start working 'properly', make sure you have sufficient back space
Then make sure Kinect is at least 4 feet off the ground, and has at least 8 feet of clear space in front of it
I was running as fast as I possibly could, but my avatar was barely moving.
This just adds to my belief that it isn't tracking my movements accurately, so I just might go sit on the couch, have a milk shake and get credit for a 200 calorie burn.(wait, I just stood in front of the Kinect, and "ran" a lap by just making my arms go through the pumping motion (of running) the more I pumped, the faster I ran
The heart rate monitor works just fine and is an excellent addition.
The heart rate monitor is an excellent addition so you can track how hard your blood is pumping

EA has shut down the online results tracking for this game, but even without it, it still is the best fitness title for Wii and XBox (and probably just as good on Playstation).
I really liked the look of this game more than I though I'd like the other fitness one, but I am just not THAT patient
I own both previous versions for the Wii (Active & More Workouts) as well as Your Shape Fitness Evolved for Kinect and all are unfortunately better than this
This is a good fitness game if you have the time and enjoy your new kinect purchase.
I pre-ordered EA Sports Active 2.0 for the Xbox 360, because it sounded like it would be a better fitness product than Your Shape Fitness Evolved.
Kinect seems like a great product to me, but it is a bit touchy and oversensitive, also most of the games out for it so far don't really use it as well as they could, Active 2 included
no basketball on the xbox version they show that on the previews and u cant see any of the activities before youpick them you just have to wait and see what u get, over all u get a good workout but again not worth a 100 bucks buy it used soon it will be on amazon.

and you can see that the potential for good product is there
I had seen it on tv and thought it would be a good product to be able to work out at home
The game did not recognize moves, and many times I found myself doing it the wrong way just to get the amount of reps needed to continue to the next exercise.
This is a great way to get in shape and lose inches and weight.
but it is a great way to get a workout if you STAY PATIENT and
It was mentioned that some of these developers found other unique ways of overcoming this problem by analyzing the shadows of your body
Clear everything way out of the way.-You have to stand up before every exercise in which your sitting down
If you are brand new to xbox gaming, this game doesn't do a very good job of explaining all of the general universal kinect movements or voice commands.
Sunlight does a much better job, but as you see in some store demos they it really has to be a well lit area for you to be tracked by the sensors
Compared to the UFC and the Your Shape Fitness Evolved, this one does a better job at tracking movements
It does a good job of tracking you and is a bit hard to lie to the system and not do the excercises because it won't count them if you don't complete them.
You can do weekly programs for a period of time & the monitor does a great job tracking your heart rate to accurately count your calories you're burning
I generally like this program and plan on continuing to use
The program itself is clunky and very hard to manipulate.
Maybe they'll make some updates in the next year that will make it a decent program.
I have tried to like this program, even changed stuff around in my place
To list a few: not connecting to the EA servers, your screen body floating above the ground, the program not seeing that you are doing the exercise, the program basically not seeing you do any exercise that is ground based, the program getting confused if you want to work out with someone
I was running as fast as I possibly could, but my avatar was barely moving.
so I have to start back over again which pretty much makes me lose my motivation
The glitches kill motivation and it isn't good at making you do the exercises properly, defeating the purpose of a game like this on Kinect.

And many people commented that it didn't work well for kinect, for me it did (with the only exception being blocking high balls in soccer)
People complain about not being able to change the schedule of 4 workouts per week.
They suckered people in with that promise and no ability to return opened games
Some people won't mind this missing feature and some will actually prefer that there is no game mode, but I personally would have preferred a game/party mode.===========================================Naming a custom workout is
Many people are complaining about tracking and how easy it is to cheat the moves in the game, but its not really that bad.
The sensor and program do not work well together on most of the routines
You may not know if you are doing an exercise right, because it sometimes counts wildly inaccurate movements as reps.-The encouragement from the trainer is just random sayings that have little to do with your performance.-The heart rate monitor doesn't really do anything in the context of the game to adjust intensity.-The sensor will often lose you and disrupt your
The sensor didn't pick up my movements well when I used the stretch band provided with the game, exaggerating the movements can hurt
Anyway, my frame is such that I really confuse the kinect sensor when I'm in the prone position.
The sensor has some trouble with a few of the excercises though the kinect calibration see's me fine.
i can feel the difference and i love how i can track my heart rate.. but mostly is how i lost 2 pounds the two day's on the work out it really makes u sweat
I'm 5'7 and weighed 190 about 5 months ago, after using this game and doing the exercises 3 days a week, with the other 3 days devoted to weight training (total of an hour a day) I lost over 45 pounds and now weigh 145 pounds.
no basketball on the xbox version they show that on the previews and u cant see any of the activities before youpick them you just have to wait and see what u get, over all u get a good workout but again not worth a 100 bucks buy it used soon it will be on amazon.
