ecobee4 Smart Thermostat with Built-In Alexa, Room Sensor Included
Style:ecobee4
With built-in Alexa voice service, ecobee4 can listen to your voice commands and respond. Have it set a timer, read you the news, adjust the temperature, and more. It also works well with other Alexa Devices by supporting ESP, so that...
Have not decided to connect and lose function(s) or sell.
(I have to give them credit, their tech support was great)
Tech support said it would, but when I asked specific questions, or questioned an answer they provided, the next person to respond would ignore it, or blow it off, or otherwise leave it unsolved
The install was incredibly easy, and my home was not equipped with the infamous “C” wire
The idea having alexa built into the device is awesome; however their tech support sucks
In our case, the ecobee4 is right next to an existing Amazon Echo, so I have disabled the Alexa functionality, but it is still controllable by Alexa and we are enjoying the new capabilities
I own the ecobee4 and regret not going with either a Nest or Ecobee3 and dedicated echo dot
Decided to try the Ecobee4 since my Nest loses it's mind at the worst possible times, 3 in the
The ecobee4 is obviously lacking the audio quality, but listening to music isn't one of the things we do with Alexa.
, the ecobee4 didn't support Echo Spacial Perception (ESP), which Alexa devices use to know which device you're closest to, if you have multiple.
However, the device itself doesn't have the same high-end finish of the Nests it was going to replace, and it instantly crashed and rebooted every time we tried to use the built in Echo
min.overall the device is amazing , alexa voice work great and all the features are just as described!!
this device is garbage and will be obsolete in 2-3 years, it’s not better than any wifi-enabled thermostat, there are many solid ones3
UPDATED REVIEW!So the folks from ecobee called me over this review to figure out if the device was flawed
I like the graphical interface on the device these smart devices are now becoming popular in all things.
The replacement thermostats proved there was no wiring faults as they worked just fine when installed.
It takes one month before Ecobee generates a data log for energy usage and system performance, but my power company has very good data on my usage for several years that I can access.
When the website goes down, which seems to happen once a month in the middle of the afternoon, you lose data for that time frame
The app is very easy to navigate and also they have an amazing dashboard on Ecobee’s website that allows you to get some great data history on usage
However, I must say the Alexa feature does not work quite as well as with my Echo Dot
However the sound quality is tinny - nowhere as good as from a Dot, and it seems to start by itself some times

When there was continued failure to connect to home WiFi, the Rep told me to call my internet provider and get them to issue a static IP address rather than dynamic IP.
Other than the static IP address for my problem of not being able to connect at all, there seems to be no other workaround right now
The internet provider said it was limiting to go to static IP address and why was I letting a 250 dollar device dictate things when they are working for everything else
Please keep in mind that the product is great out of the package, and I actually like the features better than other smart t-stats I’ve seen
The app is a little in the slow side and sometimes looses connection
it did lose its internet connection a few times, but last time I took it off the wall to cut its power and put it back on, worked ever since.
I hooked the said wire to the proper connection at the furnace and presto!I have an Amazon Echo and all I do is say "Alexa, set the thermostat to 72 degrees A/
It has only lost connection once in the time I've had it, which is a better rate than many of my other wifi connected devices
The one downfall would be that it took some router manipulation to set the unit to a static IP and ensure Alexa had consistent connection to stream any music
Technical support was on point and advised me to setup a static IP.

It took me an additional 2-3 hour to complete the process because it would not work until I finished registering it.
After a fruitless hour on the phone with an Ecobee tech, I decided to disable the voice system, disconnect Amazon and rely on the smart phone app for my thermostat settings.
I spent a total of 4 hours on the phone with tech support, the first 2 hours were painful and unproductive, until I called back in to get a different support rep
This is a crappy product, service is terrible spending hours on hold waiting for tech support, you bait and switch by telling me I could get a large rebate only to tell me that I can't, and I have to stand in front of it and yell at it to get Alexa to work!TERRIBLE in ALL respects!
Worst support on the planet .3 hours and 6 minutes on hold waiting for tech support ,no one ever answered
