ecobee4 Smart Thermostat with Built-In Alexa, Room Sensor Included

    • We love our ecobee
    • The ecobee itself is good
    • This is zero improvement over a great ecobee 3.
    • The Ecobee seems cheaper and more plasticly
    • I almost regret getting the Ecobee with Alexa built in, I have multiple Alexas, and this one does not have (currently) the ability to determine which Alexa heard the question, and have only one respond, which often leads to multiple responses, and is just obnoxious.
    • Ecobee is more difficult to set up, but their customer service/tech support is very knowledgeable if you need them.
    • So the issue that this has caused is when I get a new router, the Ecobee will work fine for a few months and then randomly, one day I'll lose the ability to control it from my smartphone.
    • Ecobee also states this will not support a variable speed system; mine
    • Ecobee blamed the installer and would not make a warranty replacement.
    • Ecobee recently pushed out an update that fixed this, and it works flawlessly.
    • The issue is that Ecobee decided to only support 2.4GHz frequencies.
    • The Ecobee's auto-control of the fan smooths out the temperature, to the point where you don't notice it anymore.
    • The HVAC guy told me they have a lot of problems with NEST but love the Ecobee
    • Love my ecobee.
    • Ecobee's support was A1.
    • Updated:I was fortunate enough to talk with Ecobee regarding the problems I had and they helped identify some of the issues I was
    • Cons:-Ecobee's Alexa is not compatible yet with all skills normally associated with Alexa products.
    • The Ecobee kept the first floor balanced at 68 degrees and warm throughout the floor
    • Ecobee however added Alexa, but no major improvements in Ecobee 4
    • Ecobee, if you're reading this, I'm happy to update my review if you can fix this for me
    • Ecobee loses connection to Alexa/ Amazon very often
    • He was able to trace this to a defective ecobee within an hour.
    • Love my Ecobee.. easy to install and program.
    • The ecobee is by far, a vast improvement over the old low-tech programmable Trane thermostat that came with the HVAC unit
    • The vacation scheduling feature is nice, so that you let your ecobee know well in advance when you're planning to be gone, so that you don't have to "check" that box on your way out the door.
    • Ecobee is the best for their ability to have sensors
    • I received this today and easily installed it following Ecobee’s excellent installation instructions
    • There's no hard proof that the Ecobee caused the control board failure really, just too many times with brand new units for it to be a coincidence, he thinks.
    • I love my Ecobee!
    • The ecobee 4 worked with air conditioning, but when I switched to heating, the fan turned on but no warm air came out
    • Love the ecobee
    • The ecobee smart thermostat works great if you don’t actually want to use Alexa
    • Since unlinking Alexa, Ecobee is great!
    • Does not support ESP, does not support changing the wake up word, does not "hear" as well as the Echo. 5 stars as a thermostat, 1 star for Alexa service, Ecobee missed the mark on this one.
    • I knew my system maybe to old for new add-on, but I took pictures and drew up a schematic for Ecobee support team
    • So the issue that this has caused is when I get a new router, the Ecobee will work fine for a few months and then randomly, one day I'll lose the ability to control it from my smartphone.
    • I have 3 ecobee thermostats that work as advertised for the most part.
    • Ecobee fails to provide plastic wings pelredrilled to be used for mounting on to these mud rings
    • The Ecobee was working perfectly, for about a month, and then it suddenly refused to make an Internet connection
    • It is also nice to know that if one of my system fails, Ecobee will notify meright away
    • I absolutely love the ecobee 4; it was easy to install and the set-up process only took a few minutes
    • Ecobee, has proven their commitment to support this product and continue to improve it
    • Ecobee’s support stinks
    • Obviously, there are a lot of others who do not have these problems and the ecobee 4 works fine.
    • The microphone on these things either suck or just act weird, like my upstairs ecobee will respond when I'm sitting a few feet from my downstairs Echo.
    • Ecobee's remote sensor solved that issue
    • Y'all got some major issues, ecobee.
    • I would recommend the ecobee 4
    • Below that the ecobee becomes unstable.
    • Ecobee’s support stinks
    • This will allow your ecobee to work with your amazon devices and working as it should
    • Now I have only had Ecobee IV installed for a few days, so we have not used it a whole lot, but I will update my review as pertinent info becomes available.*****Install note, Ecobee IV is much more intuitive than Ecobee III was
    • Overall, I'd highly recommend an ecobee, but maybe not this one if you're expecting Alexa to be the main feature you'll use.
    • The Ecobee was working perfectly, for about a month, and then it suddenly refused to make an Internet connection
    • Not only does the Ecobee 3 look neat, but it works even better
    • I have had several different Smart thermostats between my house, a rental property, and family and friends whom I have installed for, and the Ecobee is the best so far.
    • They don't work and Ecobee knows it
    • The daily annoyance, however, with the ecobee is the UI -- both on the thermostat and in-app
    • Overall I'm extremely glad I selected Ecobee over the Nest and haven't regretted my decision in the least bit.
    • you have to add "ecobee PLUS" skill (not the plain-Jane "ecobee" skill)
    • I was told the Ecobee is less problematic in connecting to the Internet
    • The Ecobee 4 eliminates this problem! We still have not untilized the Alexa capability since we have a 4 year old who likes to talk a lot
    • Let me start by saying I love the Ecobee as a thermostat (and I love Echo Dot for Alexa)
    • As far as a thermostat, this ecobee is great
    • While I can't necessarily blame Ecobee for my struggles, I can blame their installation guide for doing absolutely nothing to help make sense of my setup.
    • However, the ecobee is so smart, I don't ever need to!One annoyance, the thermostat is mounted about 10 feet from an Echo dot, and when both are listening - they both respond.
    • My main reason for doing so well is because the ecobee is HomeKit compatible, but the functionality of the ecobee surpasses the nest by a long shot.
    • I am hoping that future software upgrades will improve the Ecobee
    • Overall, I suggest you get the Ecobee 3 and a Echo Dot rather than Ecobee 4 if you like Ecobee
    • The game changer that Ecobee is famous for is the remote sensors that help monitor the temperature in other rooms of your home and help you feel comfortable
    • As a happy Ecobee 3 customer, I really wanted to love the Ecobee 4
    • The newer "ecobee plus" skill works but requires the extra step of telling Alexa to ask ecobee to control the thermostat rather than just telling Alexa (which isn't hard when I remember it but an annoyance most of the time since I usually don't).I like ecobee
    • They led me thru the usual suspects---try connecting again; unplug and reconnect ecobee from the wall; unplug the router and re-start; turn off other devices connected to home wifi
    • The ecobee itself was easy to set up and is working great a few minutes after the box was opened.
    • I LOVE MY ECOBEE
    • Ecobee is by far my favorite so far
    • My HVAC contractor recommended Ecobee over the Nest
    • If only the ecobee had as nice of a speaker
    • I love the ecobee and this one is no exception
    • Ecobee will not replace or refund
    • And like so many other areas, Ecobee will not give the user the ability to customize the settings to their liking
    • the Ecobee was smart enough to know that we were not downstairs and didn’t need the furnace running the entire time
    • We love our ecobee, and while I could go on about it's features and everything, I want to rave about ecobee's support
    • Ecobee solved the issue by offering me the ability to add extra sensors around the house in order to get a more accurate temperature
    • The echo always is responding correctly and the ecobee just gets things wrong and cause more issues
    • HVAC guy can come out and figure out what this stupid ecobee broke
    • I had a few homes running on Ecobee SMART thermostats.
    • The ecobee is amazing, works like a charm with alexa
    • I haven’t tested A/C unit control given the temperatures this time of year, but I’m confident the Ecobee will perform well in that task as well
    • Now, look, I understand that the ecobee is trying to be economical, its right in the product name after all, but do you know what would be most economical
    • My first ecobee had an issue
    • Type 'Reddit ecobee loses WiFi' if you want to see a bunch of pissed off customers complaining about blowing their money on a smart thermostat that they physically have to go to and activate WiFi every time they want to interact with it.
    • Ecobee provides great support via the included install manual, but even better support is provided in the app and on their website making it easy to see this through every step of the way
    • The ecobee was easy to install and set up
    • Both an Energy Auditor and a HVAC contractor told me they like the Ecobee and Building 36 the best of the wi-fi enabled thermostats.
    • On the whole, I really like the Ecobee as a thermostat
    • Check out their website & click through the wizard to see if Ecobee 4 is compatible with your home.
    • Well done Ecobee, well done.
    • You must use the ecobee app (which works great) to set a modified comfort setting with a return-to-schedule logic (more a hit against Apple's app)
    • I believe what ecobee does well is to remotely monitor several thermostats, however what they fail at is incorporating the Amazon Echo into their unit
    • humidity).Only drawback is that I have echo and ecobee and the two work together over my home network, except the ecobee isn't a full-fledged Alexa (for example I cannot add reminders like you can with echo dot).Shame it doesn't work with multi-speed fans or I would install downstairs too, maybe I need the Nest (which does) to compare.
    • I just Love my Ecobee 4
    • I love Ecobee offers an additional thermostat that you can discreetly set on a shelf.
    • Ecobee does a combination of both for improved efficiencies, and comfort (who doesn’t want that?).If you want your system to turn off when you open a window, it can do that too, but only if you have a home automation system to send a command to the Ecobee to turn off when a window (or group of windows) opens
    • The only thing that I am unsure of is how well the Ecobee will actually work this winter.
    • Great support from ecobee as well.
    • Ecobee and Amazon shouldn't sell things they know don't work as advertised
    • I have used two of an earlier Ecobee smart themostat for 4+ years.
    • Ecobee is great, I have my villa IT networked and installed upstairs
    • No love here, I foolishly purchased the Ecobee w/sensor and 2 more sensors without realizing that sensors are worthless without automated registers to direct the warm/cooled air to those sensors calling for either
    • One top of that, ecobee has been in the Smart Stat space for a VERY long time - much longer than Nest.
    • I think new customers deserve to know how bad Ecobee is treating their customers.
    • As an added bonus, we have noticed that the main floor (where the Ecobee is) remains much more comfortable.
    • Ecobee has the best customer support!
    • In terms of setup and use, the Ecobee is VERY user friendly
    • n’t think that the Ecobee has an advantage.
    • it is not compatible to any already smart a/c handlers.
    • The install was incredibly easy, and my home was not equipped with the infamous “C” wire
    • If the house is a little stale at 72 and I want to bump the a/c down to 71, I shouldn't realize a few minutes later that the house is at 68 and I have been running the a/c the entire time
