I can get my flash report, it can manage my smart home devices and do all the other stuff I've come to expect from Alexa.

The temperature and humidity readings are quite nifty, and I have the ecobee connected to my Wink hub, and will be exploring what I can do with IFTTT as I am new to smart home technology

I'm still hoping that the Ecobee will eventually redeem itself when I get further into my smart home / home automation adventure

This is a great starter "smart home" product and far superior to some of the other smart home gadgets I am experimenting with - reminds me of Apple in terms of how intuitive it is to use!

I primarily chose the Ecobee4 because of smart home integration.

First off I am an eletrical contractor who does a lot if smart home installs in the washington dc area.

If you lack a C-wire at the thermostat, like many people do even in modern homes, the Nest will look for opportunities between when the HVAC is not running, and complete the circuit at a lower voltage in order to charge the thermostat battery.

Bad - Does not play well with Alexa smart home.

Your home will be more comfortable, but you probably won’t see any energy savings (maybe the opposite).

I strongly recommend it, and I'm even thinking of getting Alexa-enabled smart light bulbs now and expanding my Alexa-enabled smart home.

I purchased the other smart thermostat (that a bird would use for it's home) for my new home and hated it.

If you forget to tell Alexa to "ask ecobee", then she responds with "You have no smart home devices", despite having added the "ecobee plus" skill

The app is laggy and buggy - it often fails to effect changes (I have a lot of smart home devices - this is the only one with that issue so it is unlikely to be an issue with WiFi or somesuch).4

Sensors are a little pricey but help a lot with trying to record an accurate whole home temperature.

Get an Echo or Echo Dot for a better Alexa appliance that can still do all the same things with your thermostat and smart home.

As time moved forward, these styles of boards did not integrate very well with the latest smart home initiatives - although they worked fine.

Before installing the ecobee, my home was never as cool as I would like it or never as warm.

It won't report the humidity or other settings... it only offers the very very basics with the smart home devices

I just purchased a new home and while there are a lot of"Smart" home accessories, the smart thermostat is probably the best bang for your buck at this point

When I installed my first smart device I got a lot of all new features and functionality but the reality of running a day-to-day schedule of heating and cooling my home actually got more complicated and in some ways not any more improved

Great as a smart thermostat, severe lacking as add on to a smart home with Echos

Instead, it is meant to be programmable and to integrate into a smart home environment or work stand alone.

but this is the only one I know that comes with the add a wire(needs a common wire) and a sensor to have a more comfortable home.

The scheduling and smart home/away features are easy to use

Took a few weeks to adjust schedules and set which sensors are used, but home is now more comfortable and we are using less natural gas

Being one that has had internet enabled t-stats in my home forever (proliphix was the first one I ever had) and with the fact I am one for trying to get ahead of the curve on the Alexa/smart home thing I had to give this a whirl.

Our home was always too cold or too hot or some rooms were too cold or hot

any other Alexa enabled devices and did not realize that you had to add the skills for the ecobee and enable the thermostat in Smart Home.

Makes it great to add Alexa to another part of the home, all while keeping my home comfortable.

Add this to remote temperature and motion sensors, Home Kit enabled, SmartThings enabled and an excellent phone app and you easily have the best thermostat on the market for home automation and comfort

I haven't checked recently, but at the time of purchase, the Ecobee had a much more robust API open to users, allowing the more robust smart home hub / controllers like openHab to get data from the sensors and thermostat, and possibly trigger various actions on the thermostat
