I have one iRobot Roomba 805 which I spend almost $500, this one with much cheaper price but works much better

Would be nice to limit which areas and rooms to allow it to clean, because we have to much square footage for one poor little ecovac and some rooms don't need it everyday.

It makes it over threshholds from room to room no problem, and even gets over our large area rug in the living room

Even on our thin carpets it is lacking the suction to pick up the everyday dirt out of the carpet.

It has decent suction but it constantly crashes into things at full speed or gets stuck between chair legs

not because it did not have good suction, but because it was not sophisticated at all

Over time, the robot gets scratched up from bumping/scraping across things

Our Roomba 790 which was a warranty replacement for a 770 has now finally died

Our daughter has a very expensive Roomba in her home (with dogs and mostly carpet) and it works exceptionally well.

and I was dreading all the sweeping and vacuuming

I had brought this for my sister originally for Christmas and she loved it so much that she suggested I get one too since I live in a house with hardwood/tile and carpet with two dogs (golden retriever and yellow lab).

The dust bun is extremely easy to pop out and clean and surprisingly holds of lot of dog hair, dirt and dust

If you have hard surface flooring and short nap rugs we recommend you give the Ecovacs N79S a through investigation.

We think on our solid surface floors and for our house type the Ecovacs is every bit as good at cleaning.

I elevated electrical wires and had to move a few things (rugs with fringe), standing fans are an issue with graduated bases, it got stuck under cedar hope chest, it didn't fall off 2" step... stayed away!

If something goes wrong like it getting stuck in cord I wish the app sent an alert so I could take care of it.2

In my situation, electrical cords posed the only obstacle.

Can get stuck on some loose cords and accidentally closed a bathroom door behind it once

But because of its ‘AI mental disability’, we cannot run it when we aren’t home as I am afraid it may spend 20-30 minutes hung up on a lose phone charging cord

We did have to replace a brush due to missing a cord on the floor, but they are also inexpensive.

We’ve tried to protect our cords (under the entertainment center, by the bed, under desks, etc) with ‘barriers’ we thought it would avoid, and has avoided quite a bit
