It's a sharper, more beautiful image, and no matter how much I adjusted the settings on this Epson I could not get it to look as good
Output great image with high color accuracy, but unfortunately the Epson didn't put a full speed 18gb HDMI chip inside, so you won't get 4K HDR 10bit at 60fps
Furthermore, it will display 1080p contents with a truly great image quality
Colors in HDR are much more vibrant, though to offset the darker image in HDR mode I have to change to Cinema Bright mode, and I often choose to switch from HDR2 to HDR1 mode

it's hard to find fault in the 5040, with it's incredible contrast and truly black blacks

Really disappointed and I would have liked Epson to send a newer model where the issues are fixed.....after all I have the extended warranty.
In all my research into 4k-capable projectors, the Epson 5040ub and the JVC DLA-RS400U stood out in the sub-$5000 range

FAN NOISE-Minimally audible fan noise on medium setting
The fan seemed a bit loud to me when I was testing the projector initially on the table top, but after having installed it on the ceiling, I hardly notice the fan noise at all
If I use the "Native" resolution, the 1080p contents are scaled up to match the 4k resolution and the image is not as good as with the Epson 2040 which has a native resolution of 1080p and does not do any scaling
As soon as I switch to HDMI1, loud cranking fan noise starts
The UBP –x800 player is also highly recommended as it is quick and easy to use with some great features
