For BW it's simply superb, I would not use mat fine art paper for BW as this has so much depth to it and is a different class

I contacted Epson Tech Support and was instructed to clean the print head (after two weeks of ownership and maybe 20 prints.

I also printed B&W on this same paper and the results were fantastic - don't ever expect the same as a traditional expertly done darkroom wet print on high quality Fiber paper - but expect something which is about as good as it gets in BW

Amateur Photographer gave it 5/5 stars in the latest review, and the results are superior to any other comparable printer out there!So bottom line is, if you're thinking about buying this but cannot decide between this or the R2000 or R3000 - or Canon/HP offerings, just go for this, it is Seiko Epson's latest offering and has their latest and best results and user friendliness

a photo of Barmouth Harbour which was shot with Agfa Ultra 100 and a 21mm Biogon lens on a Contax G2.The print was sublime, lush, saturated popping colours without looking garish, fine detail, great shadow detail and gorgeous

The print quality, done the correct way, with the correct profile, and with the relevant paper is simply breathtaking

Flawless, gob smackingly brilliant!I then went straight into my project which consisted of three prints to be mounted and framed - these were to replace identical photographs I had done in a Lab on Fuji Crystal Archive paper - and the three prints I made (on Epson Ultra Glossy Photo) simply BLEW the lab prints away in all ways - sure the Lab prints weren't professional

Add that to the hundreds of dollars required to purchase authentic Epson ink cartridges, and you have a Epson corporation - rich and happy - and a loyal customer who's out $1,000+ dollars, and has no printer at all

EPSON seriously recommend unplugging the printer each time it is switched off, in the same answer they mention that this will trigger a printhead cleaning cycle which is resulting in a significant and costly ink consumption (a nice way of making money out of a faulty design).

There are also some Epson phone apps that allow you to print photos directly from your phone over the wifi connection (not something I'd do often, but on rare occasion it makes a convenient way to get prints for visiting relatives, etc).My primary issue with the printer so far is the way it shares a line between the photo black ink and the matte black ink

Head clogs often.....

It may be due to the fact I didn't print enough with them and the heads got so clogged they needed to be replaced.

Service center informed me of the international purchase (via Amazon), no warranty and expect $200+/head plus service to repair if they cannot soak and clean the print heads

Just like my previous Epson Printers that died after 2 years, even at low volume prints, my P-600 quit working right at 2 years from the purchase date.

Epson was adamant that they could not help because printer is past 1 year warranty

Although the printer is still under warranty, Epson is now REFUSING to honor their stated warranty because it was not sold through one of their "authorized" resellers

I am choosing NOT to go the route of some customers here and ship this printer with its full set of expensive ink cartridges back to Amazon, only to have this process repeated again

That's $558 per year for two sets of tiny cartridges, more than 2.5 times what I was paying for the other (also overpriced) ink

Using any third party paper gives much less than the desired result - I am having to spend valuable time, wasting expensive ink testing other profiles to try and get it to print on glossy card stock.
