In today's market, with Mac having a very meaningful marketshare, can't you just support both?Anyhow, once working on the PC, scan speed and quality was excellent.
I am sure that's why text recognition software works so well with this (within PDF).The footprint is nice and small, which is surprising, considering the capability of this scanner
This has been working great for me in scanning genealogy documents, older manuals, etc
The scanner is VERY fast and the OCR as well works very fast and reasonably accurate in some basic testing
It's a nice bonus that the DS-860 drivers still support Windows
Reminds me why I switched to Macs in the first place, but can't blame Windows for the regular software crashes
Especially because other, similar models from Epson are both Mac and Windows compatible, and neither Epson nor Amazon does a great job of letting you know up-front that the DS-760 lacks Mac support

It is a lot more compact than I thought it would be (which is nice).I cannot understand why networking capability (at least a basic capability) is not built-in to this and similar model scanners, since even much less expensive all-in-one's have that capability (as does a lesser expensive version of the Epson that has wireless).
According to the user's manual, you need to connect it to an optional network interface device to get any network capability
At the price point that it is sold at, it should have some built-in network capability such as Wifi

On the positive side, the software works very similar to Canon and Fuji so the comparable product offerings are the same (in my opinion).Provided the rollers and scan grips continue to function so that only one page at a time is pulled through the scanner, this will be an excellent addition to my home business office.
The quality of scans is as good as
That makes it a terrific addition to a home business or a consultant with limited space, as well as a small to mid-size office

The Epson has worked out wonderfully for my ongoing efforts to scan books that are mostly about information, like cookbooks, travel guides, all text novels and so forth, not objects of beauty in themselves
scanning.+ Excellent text recognition and document management
My primary goal has been to produce image style PDFs of books that are a mix of text and graphics, and do OCR when possible of all text books like novels

Scanning important/delicate items like photos is a lot safer if you sort them by width and scan like widths together, and only scan small things one at a time, or with the carrier sheet)You can't use this scanner without interacting with your computer at some points (you have to pick profiles, etc
doesn't come with a carrier sheetThe documentation warns against running photos (and other irreplaceable items) through the scanner unless you use a protective carrier sheet, so the documents won't be bent or wrinkled, but that would take an eternity if you have a lot of photos to scan.

Overall, pretty great product, especially if you have a ton of documents you need to get through.
Undoubtedly the best office product I've purchased in years!
All in all it is an excellent product and highly recommended.
Fortunately, I use Adobe's .pdf software so I can manipulate the finished product in a different software.
Having used a variety of Epson and Fujitsu scanner models recently, I'd still recommend the Fujitsu ScanSnap products for most business and personal use
I love this thing!!!The user manual and software are available online, so you can look things over and check for system compatibility before you buy
This thing sucks up the documents and shoots them out the other side
It's just that you can get more for less with other brands/models, especially Fujitsu or HP.First, to clear things up, this does work with a Mac (at least my MacBook Pro).
One of the amazing things about this scanner is that it is lightning fast, yet has a small footprint
