The distance on it is amazing, I was hesitant to buy it because of the iffy
Passport Max has better distance, less false positives, and GPS lockouts
A good distance down the road my detector started alarming about radar
I like the X band delete function and it picks up K and Ka at much greater distances than I was able to with my previous units
Have not figured how to turn that very irritating feature off yet
The other amazing feature is how few false alarms I get.
That is a nice feature to have but not worth paying $600
The Max is feature rich and could be considered the Cadillac of Escort radar detectors
Think of the Max 2 as a faster, longer range, more feature rich version of the 9500ix (another older Escort radar detector), just like the original Max is
The old Escort cases were much nicer (hard sided).Overall, it's worth the money for the peace of mind.
Max 360: Not refined, looks like they attempted to save money on components as the false positives are frequent and the arrows are slow to work
If money is no object, then, yes, this is probably the best detector you can buy.. except you would need a blinder or laser interceptor for Laser defence
Great product, do not waste your money on a cheap detector!
This thing works great.. took a trip from Alabama to North Carolina and
The best thing to do if you are concerned about laser in your area is to get alternative equipment/products (that Escort and others sell) to help lessen this threat
BTW, I used a mirror mount so this thing wasn't even on the Windshield......beware....
So far I have nothing but great things to say about it.
It was recommended to me by my friend which had great things to say about it
so this is a good price!it saves the false alerts and Rear range is also great
The price - people polled thought the original Max was overpriced/not reasonable at $550 and would be more reasonably priced at (or around $400
Phenomenal detector and the price today is substantially lower than the $549.99 I paid in Feb 2015.
Price not good for cerves
, I'm sure it's a great radar detector, but Waze seems to be a far superior ticket avoidance option given the prices and functionality, or lack thereof
While expensive (and possibly over priced), the Max is a good all in one detector
However, while the Max is good at locking out static/non stationary signals and is getting better a locking out moving signals, it still struggles with dynamic/moving radar emissions such as blind spot monitors from vehicles
Unit is not Motorcycle friendly...my older Passport supported an LED warning light device using the audio port, the Max 2 will not support such devices.
In my experience from reading through this and other forums over the years and with my own unit, the original Max had more issues then I have seen with a radar detector from Escort
While expensive (and possibly over priced), the Max is a good all in one detector
I have had this unit for about a month now, so I feel like I've had enough time to get a good feel for it.
I had difficult time with Escort Customer Service, which left me with a negative feeling.
The detector is okay but fails to give you enough time between alert and contact.
I doubt, had I been the culprit, the Escort would have provided sufficient warning time to slow down.
However, there are multiple cases of people getting scatter from when an LEO was indeed targeting other cars and their unit detected the laser, which gave them enough time to slow down
I would like to further center my review from perspective of an individual who 'appreciates' signal interception and interpretation from a much deeper understanding - well beyond the mild annoyance of a simple speeding ticket
The digital signal processing is highly effective, it's eliminates false signals once it's sure that's what it is
I love that you can block out a signal and it genuinely works!
It is quite effortless, when working, and locks out false signals quickly
This past week I actually picked up a sudden strong Ka band signal when a hidden cop was LITERALLY right next to me.
A few other things I am disappointed in, after connect via Bluetooth with Galaxy S6, a mute function was some how activated that causes the detector to alert one time only to an alert and then completely silence the remaining alerts regardless of how strong the alert was

The bluetooth connection is solid, and fewer false alerts.
What I love most about it is now much better it is at avoiding false alerts.
It can remember false alerts and then block those from sounding out next time.
This detector works ok but falses constantly on blind spot monitors from other vehicles
However, while the Max is good at locking out static/non stationary signals and is getting better a locking out moving signals, it still struggles with dynamic/moving radar emissions such as blind spot monitors from vehicles
still like it, but it seems to give off too many false alerts for cars with blind spot detectors and or ez pass cards.
Good on open roads, downfall is false alarms from other cars with blind spot and adaptive cruise control.
Also, the KA band is constantly being set off by blind spot monitoring systems.
(I have to use the app to truly hear the alert)I've yet to have any issue with the blind spot monitors
The Max, like every other detector on the market, still struggles with the dynamic (moving) radar noise (such as the ever increasing blind spot monitors and collision avoidance systems on today's vehicles)

Thats why valentine one needs a hard wire to your cars diagnostic port in order to sense the speed.. and that hard wiring does not always work.. and is a pain
