The Redline on Auto mode only goes off when the car is right by the doors.

But keep in mind, if you don't filter out adaptive car sensors it will be very chatty on K band

Also, it is never a bad idea to let someone else lead if there's another fast car out there.

On the other hand, there are some desolate stretches of highway in the southwestern desert where I think a person should be allowed to drive as fast as their car will go

(traffic sensor rejection - off reduces delay on k band due to traffic flow sensors & adaptive car sensors) - Very chatty if left offRDR off (radar detector rejection - off removes delay to find false from leaky radar detector)

Have been using this for almost 3 years, great distance

I'd say the Redline picks up radar at a far distance enough for me to slow down before a police officer can clock me speeding

THE DISTANCE BOMB, but way too noisy

If anything, almost too far as I would slow down and be driving for a good distance thinking it was a false alarm because the source couldn't be that far away

it will alert you of a cop with radar on from a great distance, i mean far away

I purchased the Escort Redline radar 14 December 2016 and enjoyed the performance of the radar while traveling on long trips

, i have been through lots of radar detectors and this one is by far the best performance you can buy its worth its price for sure

Extremely disappointed with this escort redline detector it functions as its suppose to but speaker blew out about 2 months of use apparently you should only use it at low volume setting cheap Cobras have longer lasting speakers clearly lack performance though looked online seems to be a very common thing, for the price you'd figure they would use quality parts, now I need to constantly be looking at the detector to see if it's blinking or until I install an external speaker which I shouldn't need to buy in the first place

I have two options to update 1) send it in to Escort to be updated ($139.95) or 2) buy the ($99) Live smart cord which has a USB port which will allow me to do the update

The Redline does not come with a LIVE smart cord, just a regular smart cord

Escort does give you one year "free" when you purchase the Live smart cord

I thought maybe the smart cord I used was the issue, but that was not the case

and it can get very annoying if you want the frills of only getting alerted to for sure signals of police radar, but with the smart cord (I had a 8500 x50 with one as well

Not worth the money

Don't waste your money on any of the others, if you want a top of the line radar detector that isundetectable this is what you want in your windshield.

Definitely worth the extra money if you want high sensitivity and range and you drive mostly open highway in rural areas

I paid a lot of money for this hoping for a better product

Just by holding it in your hand you can tell that it's an expensive well built great product

Product is built like a rock, and no problems with it falling off window (midwest fall season).

I will continue berating this product until there is a nationwide recall.

I received a "Service" notification every time I powered on the unit and it would not work

In a recent drive of about 150 miles on Interstate it alarmed about 60 times

The few real alerts received were not enough time to have helped us much

I have two old escort passports x50 (5 years) and till this day the work great

As it stands now, the Redline is one of the slowest detectors on the market today, and consequently, it lacks the ability to detect many types of burst radar

Also, Redline is about 3 times heavier than V1 and lacks directional capability ("the arrows") which I think is THE one of the selling point of V1 as it was about 25 years ago and even as of today

The redline is great if you do a lot of highway driving

one reviewer here knocked this Redline for being no better than others for Laser (more specifically LIDAR) detection.

Insult to injury that Escort Live remains broken and unintended to

It cannot be returned; Escort will not honor the warranty

Escort Live is a waste of time and data; just use Waze instead

Escort is great and this has separate antennas and looks great and has the longest range

As luck would have it, within 48 hours the sound stopped working, I then searched the net for Escort Dead Speaker and voila, known issue with this unit

In fact, turning the POP setting on will actually DECREASE the warning distances on all frequencies except 33.8 GHz Ka (where as the POP setting on the V1 does not result in nearly as much of a range reduction and actually improves K-band sensitivity and reactivity)

I was driving and the sound/speaker stopped working while I was driving

and now its speaker was bad and can not detect ka.. Band

Radar worked great for about 2 years, then the sound stopped working (bad speaker, bad connections, IDK)and I got a ticket

Alarm is loud enough to be heard with t-tops off, windows down, and music loud enough to be heard.

If you do excessive Long range driving, this unit will save U a fortune...

but I bought redline b/c of it's supposed highway superiority.

Due to the high sensitivity, there is a lot of false K band alerts, even with TSR on and on Auto mode

X band, no big deal, K, or KA band, better behave yourself

It's incredibly sensitive, does not have the best filtering, and by itself, it cannot lock out false signals

I can switch it to auto/no x, and 99% of the false signals are filtered out

My only gripe is that it does not learn the false signals like my previous 9500ci

but as of now have no detector that can filter out these false signals

Ideally, if you are approaching a stationary target you want the signal to progressively get stronger until you are at the target and then slowly and progressively ramp-down as you move away from it

Of course, I only use this to avoid illegal speed traps!

It is fantastic in finding X band signals, and it doesn't ignore them as

It has help me detect speed traps wait before they can see me.

Laser would work as long as you are behind someone and it hits someone else before you get hit to get you maybe a 1 or 2 secs to react and as long as you are not speeding at 90 Miles/hr ina 55 Miles/hr zone.

After reading the manual and setting it up, went for a drive around popular speed traps areas and became impressed

It is quite reactive on Ka band and has given me amazing alerts with I/O Ka band

This seems to have to do with the filter that the Redline uses to reduce false alerts, as a signal must have multiple 'passes' before it sounds an audible and visual alert

This is really helpful to rule out false positive alerts.

You start to learn where false alerts are and tune them out

Blind spot monitoring falses have made this once great detector, completely worthless.

You happen to be driving in a group of cars that are all going 10 MPH over the speed limit.

i maintained the speed limit while everyone else were getting pulled over

Here is one of the incidents that happened during the trip -The speed limit on the highway was 70, and we were driving at 90 for 50+ miles

If I didn't see Waze showing a reported police officer, I probably would have expected this to be a false positive, however, it was a true alert

Because of this there are many false positives so you have to adjust it to compensate for the area where you are driving

I would have given it 5 stars but with the advent of everyone and their mother now having these blind spot sensors, there are a ton of false positives for K band.

You can store your false positives so you wont get bothered by them again

You can also experiment with the settings to reduce false positives.
