They take a wet wipe or something wet to erase which I liked because I didn't want it to smear as they were working.

Works as they are supposed it!

Work well as they will not smear when dry and only wipe away with water

It was recommended that you not leave red on the mats as it could stain, so I followed those instructions and haven't had any problems.
