My American Strat has a 9.5" radius, which is comfortable, but unless you set the action up pretty high, the notes choke out when you bend aggressively.

But it seems a lot of guys like to remove that cover, and in that case, the light color of the unfinished wood sticks out like a sore thumb.
The unfinished wood in the cavity did reveal a glue joint between the two pieces of wood that make up the body.
My concern, however, is that unfinished wood absorbs moisture a whole lot more than wood with a lacquer or urethane finish.
I don't remove the trem cover unless I need to adjust the springs, so in normal use, I can't see the unfinished wood.
But that brings up my biggest gripe...which is that the entire trem cavity is unfinished wood!
