I've used them at my own house as well as in a rental property
Excellent pricing and value on a good basic smoke detector from a well know manufacturer and the long life battery is a great feature.
Aside from that, this name-brand unit is a great value at just over $12, when compared to similar retail store units currently priced at 2-3 times the Amazon price!
Not such a great value if it lasts half as long as advertised.
The unit works as described but......the light is not very bright, the plastic housing is thin, and the horn is weaker than the more expensive detectors I have
Honestly I think the cheap detectors or more sensitive than the expensive ones, and are probably more likely to save your life.
I had smoke detectors of other makes before, without this "problem"
This is an easy to install, compact smoke detector with a battery that should last (they claim) 10 years
It took me a few minutes to figure out how to maneuver the battery into position, but overall these detectors are easy to install and look great on the wall because you don't notice them.
Good quality, longlife, buy this alarm, you will be safe.
Overall this smoke detector seems to work, but for peace of mind and ease of use, I would skip this and opt for a more expensive and higher quality device.
Good quality at a reasonable price compared to many other (overpriced) models I looked at.
I'm going to keep trying to test it, but I'll probably return the others I bought and upgrade to a better quality model.
Quality seemed fine to me contrary to some reviews of cheapness

Jillie.”Happiness:Knowing that the battery is installed correctly, that the smoke alarm is functioning properly, that it has a 10 year smoke alarm warranty, and that the battery can be changed when needed
all these years i been yelling and cursing my smoke alarms every
I bought several of these detectors to replace all the ones in my house (some were 20 years old and still worked).
Still 8 years without worrying about a battery change is nice.
It was super easy to install, is very loud, and works as it is supposed to

After fighting with the battery compartment and finally googling a video on how to put it in (and feeling like a moron because it was seriously way easier than I made it out to be), I hooked up these fire alarms and gave them a test
so I could refinance my house--I didn't have any fire alarms prior to refinancing my house
I set one off in my kitchen roasting corn today and it has a good shrill beep
I will acknowledge that this smoke detector does work; I test it semi-annually and the beep is loud and clearly heard even far away in the home
That being said the provided test button and resulting beep is very loud and crisp
I tried installing shims at the base of the battery thinking this might force the contacts to make a better connection, but after a couple of very weak test beeps, it would beep no more.
I would have gone with the type you wire into your home electricity, but the locations I needed to place the detectors were not conducive to hard-wiring
The package for the 8 detectors that I purchased identifies them as Model SA305CN which is designed to be "hard wired" to 115Volt AC current.
The ULTRALIFE brand lithium battery manufacturer warrants them for 10 years of backup power - ONLY when they are installed in detectors that are "hard wired" to 115 Volt AC electrical power.
One clarification, even though the back has a receptacle for a hard wired setup, it doesn't actually have any connectors
I have a home with hard-wired and battery back-up smoke detectors installed at initial build
No pins for attachment to whole home alarm, rendering it useless.
It has a battery compartment held closed with the cheapest possible plastic pin.
Without the pin the alarm easily twists on to the base but can also easily twist off (vibration could easily loosen it and have it fall off without warning.)
I mean, a ditzy little plastic pin that is extremely hard to pull out, and that breaks when you apply the slightest pressure to it.
