Called Fitbit customer svc who diagnosed and arrived at the conclusion that I received a faulty unit

So in closing- they don't support faulty units with new units.

Will Fitbit allow the watch to be sent back for refund or a better watch unit

Oh, and if you have a receipt to show that you purchased your Fitbit within the last year, make sure it has the units serial number on it or they will not accept it.
