The narrow clear strap is nice for holding a tablet in place (only blocking a small part of the touchscreen but none of the view).

It holds the iPad securely (even in inverted flight!).Only negative is that the back of the clipboard has the prickly kind of velcro to secure the straps when it is not in use... so you would not want to wear this with shorts on.

I bought an inexpensive ($5) plastic shell housing for the iPad, cut a couple of holes in the back, and run the clear plastic velcro strap through the back of the iPad shell.

I customized it with my approach plates and taxi diagrams, and the clear strap that goes across the pad of paper (not included) seems to do it's job.
