In that regard, the Scarlett has been a widely recognized piece equipment but with the second gen Focusrite has improved an already good thing by reducing latency

this thing is durable and quality made gives you that amazing vocal quality

I bought it based off reviews and of course budget reasons too, but I should have searched for videos first just as I did when things started not to work right

This thing delivers what it promises for a great price

If you buy anything by Focusrite be sure to read the negative reviews first because when this thing works it works great, but a year of headache with it is not something anyone should have to put up with, if I had any sense to me I would have returned the device and bought something else the first time it started giving me issues.

And they could care less whether you end the call with a broken product and trying to work things with you and a Level 10 tech God they may have locked up in the back room

The drivers are terrible - plugging this thing into any USB port on my machine will either freeze the machine, or disable other USB devices on the same bridge (e.g. keyboard and mouse just stop working)

Ok, after a little troubleshooting to discover this wonderful little gem will NOT work in a USB 3.0 slot, this thing works great

This magical thing somehow lets me set the audio buffer as low as 16 samples long, resulting in latencies around 1-2ms, which is absolutely insane

But I have to ask you: are these free things worth the lack of a volume knob or audio issues

Interesting thing I learned from Tech Support is that you CANNOT run the 2i4 in this manner (guitar>iRig

I don't know how loud this thing expects to go though, I have it between 25-30% volume.

I have recorded with active guitar pickups and passive and this thing does great with both.

I was told great things about a previous Saffire product, and when there were issues, I was led to believe it was an outdated computer, and the Firewire connection, that were the likely causes of dissatisfaction

I also went down to my local Guitar Center after I purchased this unit and all the staff had only good things to say about it.

This thing is great for listening and the latency is very quick which is great for producing

The 48v phantom over USB somehow works just as good as adding in an external phantom supply thus eliminating the need for another box (even with a laptop)I have not yet tested the instrument or headphone inputs but for the mic input it's excellent quality with minor software enhancements from a room with minimum ambient noise and no room enhancements (just a regular living environment)I have nothing but good things to say at this point and am happy to have not listened to the negative reviews.

The good thing is that you can just monitor from your computer so don't even bother connecting your headphones to the unit's headphone jack

but this thing improved my sound quality tremendously

This thing is great, very clean 24-bit audio in and out

The next thing I did was to check my mic through it and after turning the gain about halfway I could hear it loud and clear
