Absolutely excellent piece of equipment for recording and also for mixing keep in
This is a phenomenal piece of hardware that can require a bit of work to get the software set up correctly
I originally purchased this on recommendation from a friend who performs as a DJ in the evenings and I have to say it was one of the best pieces of advice I have ever been given
, this is a fantastic piece of hardware that I am still fiddling with to get right with respect to software.
As great as this piece of gear is, Focusrite does NOT know how to make a functioning driver for this thing for Windows 10
As you can tell it is super versatile, taking in either two mics (with great sounding mic preamps I might add), or plugging in directly with a guitar (The unit will take XLR or ¼“ instrument cables).
Nice sounding quiet preamps, the unit looks and feels more solid, the sample rate goes up to 192kHz which is welcomed since I do my field recordings at the same sample rate and this allows me to process/edit my sounds in Izotope RX4 and Ableton Live 9
Works well with Logic Pro X, very good quality and preamps
Works out of the box on my Win, Mac and Linux boxes as simple plug and play (did download Win drivers as in the instructions though)
The Focusrite preamps are much quieter than the Behringer

I like the 2 inputs and 4 outputs that this bus powered machine provides
To fix hearing yourself in Mono, make sure the input/playback dial near the "monitor" nob is set to playback, which prevents your Focusrite from outputting any input audio like microphones and focus solely on relaying sound from your computer
Added headroom allows it to handle hotter inputs, and supports sampling at high rates

Interesting thing I learned from Tech Support is that you CANNOT run the 2i4 in this manner (guitar>iRig
I've tried everything with tech support who are very kind by the way: uninstall/reinstalled software (tried every different version), different USB jack, updated every last thing possible (including the BIOS!) on my up-to-date very nice computer
I contacted their tech support team which told me it was a "known issue" and that I needed to download a different driver, but then repeatedly told me to download the exact same version that I had tried initially
Tech Support sucks and the device isn't as as simple as my iRig to get guitar sound while not having to lose the ability to use my sound card for other things
Tech Support is useless, both in attitude and and technical understanding.
I have nothing but amazing things to say about that unit
The drivers are terrible - plugging this thing into any USB port on my machine will either freeze the machine, or disable other USB devices on the same bridge (e.g. keyboard and mouse just stop working)
In that regard, the Scarlett has been a widely recognized piece equipment but with the second gen Focusrite has improved an already good thing by reducing latency
I love this thing in and of itself, but if it's made unusable by bad drivers, why waste your money

Great product...highly recommend it, but don't but it from Amazon if you don't have a lot of extra free time lying around.
Sadly, after two days of messing around installing and uninstalling drivers, I am still unable to get this terrible product to function
Overall, amazing product for its convenience and quality.
I ended up returning it and ordering a Steinberg UR242 4-Channel USB Interface, which works flawlessly (and costs less!), which goes to show how unreliable this product is

Just with SCSI cards long past dinosaur, a broken headphone port, lack of preamps, not official drivers and so forth it, was just finally time to make a move to current settings
