Reviews around piece (5.00 of 5)

  • Absolutely excellent piece of equipment for recording and also for mixing keep in
  • This is a phenomenal piece of hardware that can require a bit of work to get the software set up correctly
  • I originally purchased this on recommendation from a friend who performs as a DJ in the evenings and I have to say it was one of the best pieces of advice I have ever been given
  • , this is a fantastic piece of hardware that I am still fiddling with to get right with respect to software.
  • As great as this piece of gear is, Focusrite does NOT know how to make a functioning driver for this thing for Windows 10

Reviews around look (5.00 of 5)

  • The looks of the unit are pretty much unchanged, with the same nice-looking aluminum case in red.
  • Very happy with this purchase and just love the look of the unit.
  • I highly recommend this unit if you're looking for an audio interface in this price range.
  • A solid, nice-looking, and most importantly, great-sounding, low-latency audio interface

Reviews around price (5.00 of 5)

  • The Scarlett 2i4 did all of those with great quality and an affordable price.
  • Focusrite makes high quality interfaces for good prices
  • Great price, and an amazing audio interface for starting out recording

Reviews around preamps (5.00 of 5)

  • As you can tell it is super versatile, taking in either two mics (with great sounding mic preamps I might add), or plugging in directly with a guitar (The unit will take XLR or ¼“ instrument cables).
  • Nice sounding quiet preamps, the unit looks and feels more solid, the sample rate goes up to 192kHz which is welcomed since I do my field recordings at the same sample rate and this allows me to process/edit my sounds in Izotope RX4 and Ableton Live 9
  • Works well with Logic Pro X, very good quality and preamps
  • Works out of the box on my Win, Mac and Linux boxes as simple plug and play (did download Win drivers as in the instructions though)
  • The Focusrite preamps are much quieter than the Behringer

Reviews around input (5.00 of 5)

  • I like the 2 inputs and 4 outputs that this bus powered machine provides
  • To fix hearing yourself in Mono, make sure the input/playback dial near the "monitor" nob is set to playback, which prevents your Focusrite from outputting any input audio like microphones and focus solely on relaying sound from your computer
  • Added headroom allows it to handle hotter inputs, and supports sampling at high rates

Reviews around build (5.00 of 5)

  • All of the knobs and buttons feel well built and the labels are big enough to read from 1 foot away

Reviews around soundcard (5.00 of 5)

  • I have recommended this soundcard to other studios starting out and they love
  • Works out of the box on my Win, Mac and Linux boxes as simple plug and play (did download Win drivers as in the instructions though)
  • Absolutely love this soundcard.

Reviews around record (5.00 of 5)

  • You might as well start with the cleanest recording with the smoothest detail, and now that's available in a 200 dollar interface
  • and I feel that I get an accurate recorded representation of what I'm hearing in the room when I'm playing acoustic guitar.
  • I also considered that I'd need something to play live through the laptop as well as record in the studio

Reviews around tech support (4.16 of 5)

  • Interesting thing I learned from Tech Support is that you CANNOT run the 2i4 in this manner (guitar>iRig
  • I've tried everything with tech support who are very kind by the way: uninstall/reinstalled software (tried every different version), different USB jack, updated every last thing possible (including the BIOS!) on my up-to-date very nice computer
  • I contacted their tech support team which told me it was a "known issue" and that I needed to download a different driver, but then repeatedly told me to download the exact same version that I had tried initially
  • Tech Support sucks and the device isn't as as simple as my iRig to get guitar sound while not having to lose the ability to use my sound card for other things
  • Tech Support is useless, both in attitude and and technical understanding.

Reviews around thing (3.75 of 5)

  • I have nothing but amazing things to say about that unit
  • The drivers are terrible - plugging this thing into any USB port on my machine will either freeze the machine, or disable other USB devices on the same bridge (e.g. keyboard and mouse just stop working)
  • In that regard, the Scarlett has been a widely recognized piece equipment but with the second gen Focusrite has improved an already good thing by reducing latency
  • I love this thing in and of itself, but if it's made unusable by bad drivers, why waste your money
  • Interesting thing I learned from Tech Support is that you CANNOT run the 2i4 in this manner (guitar>iRig

Reviews around product (3.37 of 5)

  • Great product...highly recommend it, but don't but it from Amazon if you don't have a lot of extra free time lying around.
  • Sadly, after two days of messing around installing and uninstalling drivers, I am still unable to get this terrible product to function
  • Overall, amazing product for its convenience and quality.
  • I ended up returning it and ordering a Steinberg UR242 4-Channel USB Interface, which works flawlessly (and costs less!), which goes to show how unreliable this product is
  • I used this product during 1 hour and it crashed

Reviews around driver (1.99 of 5)

  • I waited until MAYBE new improved drivers came out (which did).
  • you want sanity, go my route with the iRig or get the Steinberg and Behringer devices that get good reviews and BETTER drivers.
  • After all, without good drivers, the device becomes an expensive brick!
  • My laptop installed the driver with no problems and everything works fine
  • Proprietary drivers that do not allow any software to change the sample rate

Reviews around headphone (1.95 of 5)

  • The only gripe is the awful headphone da
  • Works out of the box on my Win, Mac and Linux boxes as simple plug and play (did download Win drivers as in the instructions though)
  • Just with SCSI cards long past dinosaur, a broken headphone port, lack of preamps, not official drivers and so forth it, was just finally time to make a move to current settings

Reviews around latency issue (1.44 of 5)

  • but I'd occasionally run into latency issues with them.
  • At the default settings, I have no latency issues while live tracking.
  • Works out of the box on my Win, Mac and Linux boxes as simple plug and play (did download Win drivers as in the instructions though)
  • Don't know which audio interface will solve at least somewhat of the latency issues....
  • The second generation fixed my latency issue that I had with the first one
